He didn't even want to mess with it today. He rooted his Droid 1, but he figured since I already knew all the deep dark secrets of the Fascinate he'd let me take care of this one. He just picked the theme he wanted out of the ones I showed him, and I know Zegoe is his favorite font, so I set him up.

We had to get up at 4am to get this silly thing for free today. It was worth it... but he's sick (and has been since yesterday) and just wasn't up to dealing with rooting an unfamiliar phone. It's ok, it was fun to start from scratch with a fresh phone. :D

How is the aosp rom? Never heard of it

Okay . . . just did a search a learned a little about it. I'd still be interested to hear about how it is working out for you

Thanks for the quick reply, I hope they are able to work all the bugs out for the AOSP Rom, it sounds like it has real potential

[ROM] ALPHA - AOSP for Samsung Fascinate by jt1134 - xda-developers

still very buggy, but in my case at least good enough to use for daily use....after dealing with crappy touchwiz and its extremely long fingerprint over the phone, its refreshing (especially from a theming pov) to use some stock android goodness
Nitsuj17, one more question:

I'm running DJ05 geeknik superfast 1.54, if I go to a OC voodoo kernel will I notice much of a difference in day to day usage? I am researching more and more about using voodoo kernels and, as a newb, I don't want to get in over my head. . . unless it's worth it

Any feedback would be great

Oh, and found OTB Voodoo5 kernels at XDA site, thanks

a lot depends on what you do with your phone...if you do a lot of browsing and gaming...voodoo along will seem like a huge boost...the extra overclock on that may or may not be noticable...but really its personal preference...try out different kernels and see what works best for you :)
