Health issues have kept us from any garden for many years, Chief. The wife tried to grow some tomatoes, last year, in some large pots.

I get that, Pit, and hate to hear that about you and your Darling Bride. Several years ago I built a raised garden bed using 6x2 cedar boards: but no matter how much we weed, till and clean, more junk grows up. I determined that this stuff is literally coming from underground and popping up in our garden. This year's solution is to try and nuke it all (AGAIN) - and, this year, grow most of the plants in containers ranging from large feed tubs to larger livestock tanks with drainage holes in the bottoms. Those will be elevated off the ground by blocks to keep junk from growing into them.
Most weed seeds are airborne. Eliminating what is already present in your soil has to help. My sister and I were tasked with keeping the family garden clear of unwanted weeds while growing up. It was a daily task and there was always something to hoe.
I have contemplated raise bed gardening. I have an irrigated garden but my soil is poor and needs nutrients. Too many years in the same spot and less than quality maintenance has taken its toll.
Good luck with your garden. They are fun but labor/time intensive.

Back, years ago, I'd say that the only thing that we could grow was rocks. I even tried to sift them out using a homemade sifter made with 2x4s and hardware cloth.

My soil is mostly clay. It needs a lot of mulch to loosen the clay and to retain water. Mostly I have used up the nutrients and it need some serious rebuild. I've not planted in a couple of years but I am a big consumer of the local farmer's markets. Fresh grown produce can't be beat. I will post some of my buys in this thread this summer. The region enjoys a climate and soil that works well for most all vegetables.
We love locally grown goods ourselves.

So yesterday I stopped at truck stop where I know that they had my favorite hooey ball caps. I came across one by a different brand that fit nicely and that I liked.
The cost $30. While I liked it and really wanted it, I stuck with my no more buying ball caps

A battery for my car because of course. I had moved it down the driveway a bit to shovel the other day then went to move it back last night because more snow was coming. Nope. Dead. I'm all shoveled again and my car starts when I push the button!

I have had bad luck with batteries since I started driving. They have left me hanging without warning too many times not to whine and rant.
