Ok so I'm new to metro and would like to get an over all picture of the Speeds that they offer around the country. I been having some bad experience with the network but don't want to judge it by my own account or actual phone having a problem.

Here are the speed I'm getting
This was a total of 20 test using Speedtest.net app

Tested 20 times out of this 20 4 of them timed out(meaning i got 0d and 0u).

1x
D Average 93kbps
U Average 45kbps

4G
Haven't seen it on my phone lol. Seems like my phone is one of does phone that the 4g Just dont work out of the box. here re my Ave speeda

D 3.39mbps
U 3.59mbps

This is more like it. I'm sure i will never get does speed or at least not until later in life. but i can deal with the speed i posted. they are like in between sprint 3g and 4g network. so far so good. I'm loving this phone but what i mostly love is the fact that I'm going to save LOTS of money between me and my wife and employees man it cant get any better then this.
 
my 1x 125 kbps down 52 kbps up

my 4g 4167 mbps down 1171 mbps up

my best speed test so far was april 10 few blocks from where i live.

My 1x is about 100kbps down and 50 up

4G 5.58 mbps down and 1.6 up
Im in Pontiac Michigan
some people are getting 20 mbps on other cariers
 
Think you have it bad off? No matter where I gone throughout the entire county the 4G is just a tease - Averages around 1365 down and up give or take maybe 100.

Screams CAP to me.
 
I rarely see 1x so I haven't speed tested with it, but on my MotoQ i was getting around 100kbps down and 50 up.

For the Indulge I average 2500kbps up/down

there was no promoting just cuz i did not post any links to any pirated version of this app. as a former owner of a warez web site which isnt online anymore i know the rules regarding warez on website im not a noob when it comes to it. besides the freeware if u look up the comments people are having way 2 much probs with it especially on non-rooted phones. if u wanna buy the app legit good for u but dont condem those of us that prerfer it free :)
 
Someone's using ShootMe on a non-rooted phone and that's the app's fault when it clearly says in the description that the phone HAS to be rooted? I don't think I'd blame the app for that...
I always thought instructions were here to be read... Idk... Maybe I was wrong. Silly me.
 
I been getting 1100-1500 kbps down and up (usually in the ~1300 range, sometimes slightly less up), and I have been testing several spots throughout (mostly upper) Pinellas County and southern Pasco (Holiday area). Once, I got 4669 down and 2469 up, I wish I remembered where that was now. :D Also, IIRC, I believe I got some higher speeds while visiting Orlando. Using Speedtest.net app.

I spoke to one rep in a local store, he said that because 4G is brand new in our area (Tampa just turned on April 1) that the initial speeds would not be super high, but would increase in a couple weeks after they finish building out the network. Not sure if that's true or not, but it seems to make sense that the areas that have had 4G for longer seem to be getting faster speeds, and I would venture to say, probably have better coverage as well.

I'm sure we will continue to see improvement as Metro continues to build out the network. I think it will be fun to refer back to this thread months, maybe even years from now, and use it as a timestamped historical benchmark. :)

BTW, I'm not sure how you guys feel about it, but for a flat $50/60 per month for unlimited data, minutes, long distance, txt, etc... I'm tickled to death with those speeds! :D
 
Yah Service was out but is back and kicking it was like a 4hr outage.

Well I'm located in the NYC area and i get different speed all over the place. I can say that so far from my test i have averaged about 3D and 3U. So it really does matter where you are with in a particular city. My only complain so far about metro is the fact that penetration SUCK SUCK SUCKS. I mean i go into buildings and my cell drops out of service (not every where, but where i would normally have service with Sprint/Tmobile) well hope they really work on that. I mean i cant complain for $50 dollars, this is a Savings of $80 dollars and i know switch to metro i was going to have to expect less quality then what i was paying "You get what you Pay for" yesterday should be a good example of that, but i would take the compromise.

In 2009 Metro service was so BAD SO BAD that you couldn't really use it. My sister jumped on them right away. 5 months later she went back to AT&T (lol). If you ask her if metro is good she would say NO!!!!, but in just two years there service has improved drastically. which is impressive. GO METRO hope they dont slow down. I'm pretty sure ones they have the foot hold they are looking for they will do how all the major 4 have done. Kick all there Vendor out and start charging more money. We are practically paying them so they can grow and become a beast and then no care about us like all the other company but ill right the wave for as long as i can.
 
I am streaming netflix to 2 wiis in my house and using my computer on wifi teather and still getting these speeds on my computer in Michigan. so far i think im getting the fastest speeds of everyone else

Man because of people like this, is the reason why all this Carriers don't want people to tether on there network. You have no idea the amount of burden you are putting on there network and the affect it has on other users on the network. Just think about 100 people doing the same S as you are doing and think about the other 100 people just using there service as it was intended to be use like checking email, facebook or just watching youtube (on there phone) this people get affected by you. I will not lie to you, I do tether, but not for anything like this, more for downloading contract 100kb or looking at a HTML email on my iPad. Please get a real internet connection for your house.

This is going to become more popular as time goes on since the wireless speeds will soon be faster then what you can get at home without paying an arm and a leg.


At my home Im getting 60mbps down and 5mbps up, thats with a business class internet and paying $70/month just for the internet connection.
Our Galaxy Indulge is capable of 21mbps down and once LTE is upgraded to LTE Advanced carriers would be able to start offering 100mbps - 1Gbps.


I'm wondering what the current limits are being caused by.
#1 Metro Capping speeds
#2 available frequency spectrum
#3 Cell Tower backbone's available bandwidth.

If its just #1 thats good news and metro could simple increase our speeds when ever they want, this would also mean that bandwidth hogs would have less or even no impact on other users.

i do have a real internet connection i just like pushing things to the limit, I don't believe that this effects everyone elses speeds, the reason is i think we are caped at a certain speed, if so it should not effect others to use the full capacity of my speed

This is still up in the air and looks more and more like bandwidth limitations rather than caps. It may be capped but with not enough bandwidth to reach the cap at all times. Metro Would have had to increase their bandwidth quite a bit from what they were used to before to handle the increased speeds with 4G.

I'm going to see if a MetroPCS Mobile Data Engineer can give more info on this.
