Help Power problems..

Can't turn it on most of the time, although it will turn on occasionally.

Won't charge for most of the time, although even when it appears to be doing so and the orange light comes on, it doens't turn on any more likely or often.

What would the problem likely be? Charging port being loose perhaps? Battery? Power button?

By "turn on"... do you mean just the screen or the entire phone?

Obviously easiest thing to do is try changing batteries and cords.

Do you only have one cable to charge it with?

I'd try another if you have one handy, any standard micro usb works in my experience.

Could be any of the three things you mentioned but obviously the battery and charging cables are the only things you can easily replace.

No, never got a successful reset, couldn't keep trying due to problems turning it on.

It is recognized by my PC successfully via USB everytime I plug it in, yet it won't charge.

Is there any possibility this could be a software thing? What could I do to further diagnose the issue?

I'd say it's remotely possible it could be software related but the signs point more toward hardware IMO. Impossible to try and fix though since you can't get it to reset. Only other idea I have is if you could get it rooted during one of your rare uptimes, you could then flash a new rom and get your alternate software that way. Seems unlikely though since you can't even run the PB31IMG from the SD card. You might try a new card like I mentioned at the end of the last thread. Or try to boot it up without a card altogether and see if it works.

I did get a new card, and have tried with and without it....alas, no difference. What do you think the problem would be from a hardware perspective? Charging port?

A lot of your problems point toward the charging port yet its strange that it won't load the file in hboot and that the factory reset option in hboot does nothing. So to be honest, this one has me slightly stumped. It sorta feels like the partitions got borked somehow. The software is the only thing we have control over anyway so I was just wanting to exhaust all options before throwing in the towel.

I don't know of any way to check the partitions. I've repaired them with adb before but it was a long time ago and a huge PIA and we don't even know for sure if that's the problem. Plus if you are only able to boot to the white screen still, you probably won't be able to use adb either. If your pc is only recognizing the device as bootloader interface, you can't get to shell if I'm not mistaken. If its recognizing it as Android phone you might have a shot.
