Help Powers on by itself?

Having an issue of my Droid X, deodexed GB .596 no rom/theme, powering on by itself. Every 2 or 3 days I will power it off for the night and when I come back to it in the morning it has already booted up :confused:

I also noticed this last week when I was on a plane, powered down for take off and then 3 minutes later the Droid eye was staring at me?

Anyone else notice behavior like this?
 
I haven't had a problem with it
And I don't have a perfect answer
But instead of turning it off you can put it in sleep mode which will turn off the radio so its just like being off but it powers on instantly

Thanks Bhuber. :-) I usually just put it in plane mode over night, but sometimes I will power off if its been on for several days.its not a big deal to me, but it seems strange none the less.
 
i noticed my phone doing this as well. it's only been doing it since the GB update, so it's either a bug or part of the framework of the build. it's pretty damn annoying, though.

Good to know I'm not alone :) I've gone through my apps, the only one that is on a schedule is Cache Cleaner. I've shut it down and it made no difference. :confused: I can't think of anything else that might try to power the phone on by itself?
 
UPDATE: rebooted the phone this morning and it didn't power itself back up this time. i did only give it about a minute before turning it back on manually, though. will keep an eye on this.
 
I have noticed this too, many times. thought I was going crazy too so good(?) to see it's happening to others!! No idea what it is, but I also had the GB update not that long ago. Could be connected.
 
Continues to be an issue for me :confused: I powered the phone off last night and it seemed to stay off....then I woke up @ 2AM to a wrong number phone call DOH! Very annoying little glitch
 
I have been having this problem as well. It is quite annoying I have also found that once turned on and sitting the phone will open to the lock screen on its own as well which is leading to bad battery life for my X. Sometimes I pull the phone off the charger in the morning and don't touch it for a couple of hours and the battery use will be at 90% remaining and will say display 45% when it has been sitting in my desk for a few hours with no one touching it. I have tried factory data resets and have now ordered a refurb in hopes that it is something wrong with the power button itself.
 
did it again once this week. battery was fully charged and i turned it off to clear the cache. not sure if the full charge has anything to do with it or not. it may well be a bug in GB.
 
Had my X since the middle of June. About 2 weeks after activation it started turning itself on. Called Vz support and the CSR said she had never heard of such a problem. Had me do a "soft reset" by removing the battery for 30 seconds. That worked for about 3 days. It is now happening frequently. I did upgrade my battery to an extended one (bought from Vz) but this was happening with the stock battery, too. Have checked the battery many times to make sure it was seated properly and that hasn't helped.

A few minutes ago it I glanced at it and the red MOTO logo was on the screen and the phone was doing nothing (no boot.) I finally removed the battery, reloaded it and it powered up normally. The lone Vz store left in town is not competently staffed (I bought the X via Amazon at a Vz price lower than my direct upgrade offer from Vz) and a friend directed me to this site.

My Droid X does this as well. It didn't start until i loaded the most recent software update;

System Version: 4.5.596.MB810. Verizon.en.US
Android version: 2.3.3
Build Number: 4.5.1_57_DX5-26
 
I'm having the same issue. But, for me, it's happening regularly: almost every night when I power down. Pulling the battery every time will get to be an annoyance after a while as I've got it in an OtterBox.
 
Different issue here. My power button was messing up. The only way I could get the phone to come up was to remove and replace the battery and it would boot by itself, not touching the power button at all. I fixed the power button by blowing it out with compressed air. Now, get this. The phone will now NOT boot when I remove and put the battery back in. But it behaves normally now.
Strange indeed.
 
So glad to find this thread. I have been having this same issue. I travel a lot and turn off the phone for flight, then find that phone has turned back on and have an almost dead battery because it kept looking for a signal inflight. Very frustrating. I will try the sleep mode. Airplane mode would be great if it worked, but phone changes that setting as well and will not stay in airplane mode.
