Pre-Order or In-store Pickup??

The way Verizon has been, I wouldn't do a phone pre-order from them.

There is absolutely no reason what so ever! These phones will be available on launch day. All you have to do is get there a little bit early.

And with what vzw did with the botched DROID Razr pre-order is any indication, well that gives you your answer right there.
Order a phone on Oct 27th, and then let people know a few days later that they're phone will ship on the Razr's launch date of Nov 10th, and hint at it not arriving till Nov 14th? Why on earth would I give you my money that early for? Especially when it doesn't even put the phone in my hands earlier then the actual launch date!

Sorry Vzw, you get my money after I tinker with my new toy in the store, and then are able to leave the store with the phone in my possession.

Just about every phone I preordered came to me a day or two before launch.(iphone, inc, fascinate)

I'll be on the road on the 17th so I'll find the closest VZW store and be there at the open. Besides, although I'm 95% sure I'm getting the Nexus, I'd like to check out all three phones before pulling the trigger.

I always let the masses do the beta testing for me to make sure it is all that it was claimed to be. I have rolled this long with my OG Droid, I can eek out a week more of watching the comments roll in. And I will have an Asus Prime to bide my time anyway

I will be on the road as well with the fam and will NOT be able to stop in to a store to get one, so if I get one at all before returning home it will be by ordering online. Since there are rumors of possible shortages, I want to order as soon as possible. If the phone is released without preorder, say on the 17th, will it be available online at midnight on the 17th? Anyone know?

I would think it would. Or early the next morning it will be available.

Pick up in store on release day. The reason is VZW requires a signature for delivery in my area.

If Costco offers a bundle of goodies, as they did with the Droid Bionic, along with the $289.99 price recently reported, I'll buy it at my local Costco store. I purchased my Motorola Xoom at Costco and didn't have any problems with either the purchase or activating the device.

No way...reps are not allowed to touch my phone...! I tell them upfront that they will not be activating my phone...lol

same here, i just tell them give me the box and phone, add it to my account, i will call and have it activated while im driving down the road (*i will have someone with me so i can actually do that haha*)

but no one will open that box but me! rest assured!

That's what I don't like and, why I will order online. The Verizon store I go to always opens it as they are coming out from the back with the phone. I don't want to be rude and, tell them to just bring me the box because, they're just doing their job.
