Pre-ordered my TB today at BB -- 1 Year Price = $499

Talked to the Best Buy Mobile manager today -- got some new details:

(he said this information was up-to-date this morning)

- 1 Year contract price is $499
- Best Buy will receive their phones first before Verizon --- ( I called VZW while at Bestbuy and confirmed it with them over the phone)
- Best Buy is setting up pre-order appointments the moment the phones come in store.

I don't have anything else -- but if it's already been repeated, sorrry.

$499??! they should just rob a bank.

I would never pay $499 for 1 year contract. Most likely full retail at verizon will be around 6something so i would rather pay full retail then get locked into a contract only saving like a hundred bucks. This phone if it keeps these prices looks like it will deter alot of people from buying.

I agree. To shell out that kind of money, there are plenty of other devices you can buy brand new at VZW for the same price, no strings attached.

I thought Best Buy didn't do one year contracts?

I asked him about that -- because I would've gone to Verizon for that reason. He told me they are doing 1 year pricing for it. When he told me I flat out laughed at him (or more like, with him). He was looking at some sort of pricing sheet on his display -- I couldn't catch exactly at what he was looking at. Being the manager I hope he's [not] right.

I remeber hearing that for full retail (and 1 year if they actually take them) BB really jacks up the price over what VZW charges. That way either they force you to get a 2 year contract or make damn sure they get their pound of flesh on the deal.

Well either way this won't effect me, but man I feel for anyone that is planning to do this option with Best Buy, lot is a lot.

So is it official that BB's full price is $749? It's surely much more comparing to Verizon's $615...

I worked in the mobile department at Best Buy for 5 years until this summer, when I got tired of their focus on checking every customer in the store's upgrade eligibility and selling their black tie. So while the information is a little out dated, as of August, Best Buy did offer one year contracts. But most of the employees in the store don't realize this because Best Buy Mobile does not teach out this option because they don't make nearly as much money as they do on a two year contract. It's also why the one year upgrade price is usually pretty ridiculous. But if you are interested, ask them to look at the Excel Spreadsheet of phone prices in their Ad Source section of employee toolkit (again, this is where it was in August, but BBY has been known to change this a lot). It also may require them to do the activation in the VZW system and not their baked activation system called BEAST which might not give them the option.

Best Buy may have changed their policy since August...but if one store has one year contract pricing available, every store does.

Wait so Verizon's full price is 615? When did we find that out? I thought it was suppose to be 750 every where?

Thanks for that, but that really doesn't prove anything, It shows the Incredible as 615, and it sales for full price on Verizon for 529. Maybe this means it will be cheaper, I guess it could still be higher too.

One other thing is that this calls it the Droid Thunderbolt, and it has the Merge on there as well. What is that screen shot from?
