I've been reading the rumours about the Sony Hayabusa in June/July. I'm think I'm still going to get the Xperia S.

The problem with phones is that there's always a new one on the horizon. If I waited for that I'm sure between now and then another phone will be announced as coming soon so by the time the Hayabusa is released I'd be waiting for the next big thing. You end up constantly changing your mind, waiting, changing your mind, waiting, etc. You'll never actually get a new phone!

I was in two minds thinking about waiting for the Mint, but I just like everything about the Xperia S, and also I am too impatient to wait.

Just had the white and black dummy phones in my hand, I know they are the same size but the white just looks bigger in the hand, also it was grubby as hell, does anyone know if the dummies are made from the same materials or just cheap plastic ? I honestly don't know which colour to go for now

Not sure, but just rang them and yeah they have the black in store for sale from today, quite interested in their all you can eat data tariffs

Does anyone know if I buy the phone on a 3 contract through buymobiles, will it be locked and if so unlockable? My only memory of 3 is when you couldn't unlock their handsets years ago.

Cheers

Edit: You can

Any phone on 3 can be unlocked for a charge, but they will require you to pay the full terms of the contract (24 months) before they do. It would be cheaper just buying sim free. If you bought it from 3 as a payg then I believe they simply charge

that looks like a good deal

have they changed their date yet at all

On the 3 contract it says soon, on the others I think it says the 13/14 can't remember exactly which date.

Jeez it didn't say that you had to pay all the contract up front on 3's site!

If you have a contract then you need to abide by that contract and pay its full term, you maybe able to get it unlocked but you would still need to continue paying the monthly fee. If its 24 months then you have to pay for 24 months or pay it all in one lump sum.

I see no point in buying on contract then having it unlocked? On payg yes, but not contract.

Well I tend to get bored after a year or so, what I tend to do is sell on the mobile unlocked and buy the latest smartphone sim free/payg model for the remainder of the contract, I guess a few people do it this way to avoid the initial large outlay just for the phone itself.

Oh I may have found a few aftermarket sites that will unlock a 3 mobile without having to payout the full contract first.

Yup,

I done that once, you end up paying more still but you don't really notice as its spread out.

I now stick with 3 and buy sim free every year now and just swap the sim to the new phone. Been with 3, 3 years now. :D

O2 have it in store today too, just on the phone to T-Mob to get my PAC!

This sounds a stupid question, but how easy is it to get your PAC? I realise the operator will try to get you to stay with them, but is it usually fairly straight forward and they accept you're leaving and give you the code?
