Pre Orders?

The Twitter feed keeps insisting that there will be enough stock (in reverse chronological):

@seanamo No to pre-orders...sorry @eclipsed4utoo There will be supply :-)

To answer everyone who asked this question - Droid will be available for purchase online a little after midnight - say 12:30 am on the 6th.

@JoshuaKoza online & stores on 6th

@JonathaFoss @justree0912 Yes, we will have stock. How many are you planning to get? :-)

@ryunswank it will be a mail-in rebate if you buy in store, in the form of a debit card.

@n3x3o You will be able to order online on the 6th since you aren't close to a store.

Just called my local best buy and they said they received the case and screen protectors for the Droid, but no phone as of yet. That was only to one store.

Just got back from my local Best Buy. They had just received an email telling them the SKU# for the Droid and that they can start pre-sales. I asked them what the full retail price was and they told me they had heard $599.00. They also told me that they only expect to get three to four Droids for the release date. I was able to pre-order the phone with $50 down that is fully refundable. I am the first and only pre-order for the droid in Hixson, TN.

I am still in a Two year contract with close to a year left before I am eligible for any kind of new every two discount. I will be paying full price for the Droid next Friday.

which best buy. I work in Chatt some days. I am hoping to grab one in murfreesboro closer to my home but if not I could have this for back up

I'm an existing Verizon customer, and I received a letter from them stating that I was a preferred customer, and that I could use my $100 off, "new every 2" deal early on any phone I wanted. I called the 800 number and asked if I could apply it to a Droid, and was told that I could. They told me that it would ship on the 6th, and verified that someone would be home to sign for a package. This was yesterday, and the person who helped me said they would call me this morning if there were any problems. I have not heard anything, so it looks like I pre-ordered a Droid from Verizon.

I will be sure to update this if I do hear anything.

I got my pre-order at the Hixson store. I had a call in to the store on Gunbarel in Chatt. but they didn't know about the pre-sales. They just called me back and told me they would be doing pre-sales starting today.

The store in Hixson is smaller than the one on Gunbarel so I'd say Gunbarel will get more phones.

For those that got the presale, could you post the SKU that is on your receipt? The stores that claimed they can not do presales will be able to with the SKU.

they didn't do pre-orders with the Storm when it first came out. Considering the hype-train Verizon had behind that device, i'd be surprised if they do preorders for the Droid

Making my first post here... currently a Storm user, anxiously awaiting the Android...

YES. VZW did offer pre-orders for the Storm. About a week before I ordered mine, received it with Saturday delivery. It was released on a Friday. Friends went into stores before they opened, and weren't active till later that evening because of the system overloading. I had mine by 9am on Saturday morning.

I too went to my local Best Buy (Orange, CA) and pre ordered the Droid. It was around 12:00pm and the guy said I was the fourth person to pre order.

So what do I do if I need to change my plan first? I use the dare & don't have a smartphone, but I bought the Imagio last week but took it back same day for the droid after looking into it more. Should I go in this week and ask them and maybe just change my bill & stuff? Or do it on launch day? I plan on "camping" or getting there very early to nab one. But I want to just get one and not spend an hour talking to somebody first. I just have to add the smart phone data plan to my plan & get rid of my premium plan. They are going to sign me up for the 59.99 for unlimited text/450 call & add the data plan on it.

Any suggestions?

Apparently you don't know many rabid Apple fans. I do. I knew it was going to be an instant hit, if only because of the logo on it. That's enough for some people. However, it turned out to be a pretty great device, so it caught on beyond that. I probably would have gotten one a year ago if it wasn't exclusive to AT&T (I hate AT&T). Right before I heard about the Droid, I was considering getting one anyway.

Lol true. Than again, show me a non-rabid apple fan....

Get the phone first, which will automatically give you a $30 boost to add the unlimited email and data to your current plan, so you can use your New every two.

If you aren't using NE2 then you can probably go ahead and change the plan first, b/c changing it either before buying the phone or after will reset your NE2 date (IIRC).

I have been pestering VZW *611 ops all day with questions about the way I want to go about getting a free Storm2 for my mom and a Droid for me....When I mentioned wanting to change the telephone line from one # to another, I was advised to wait until I had activated all new upgrade phones - b/c if I did the plan changes now then I would lose my NE2 discount.

I strongly dislike the way best buy is going about the matter of pre-orders, and having to purchase a $50 gift card, rather than the deposit be put towards the phone. I understand why they are doing it this way, but oh well!

I was intending on pre-ordering a phone at best buy, but going to my VZW store first to try and get it there, and use Best Buy as a backup. But if I end up getting the phone at the VZW store, then I am stuck with a $50 gift card. No thanks, lol.

There's always something I want at best buy.. so being stuck with a $50 gift card instead of putting the money directly on the phone is fine by me and it leaves me free to buy the phone from verizon if I decide to do that instead.
