I'm at the site right now and I don't see preview 4 anywhere.
 
is this an actual working rom? do you need to flash gapps or something for it?
I flashed one of these ICS roms and I couldn't get it to work.

Not sure which one it was or what the problem was.

I don't believe you need to flash GAAPS and it's included. I haven't tried this myself yet (screen broke on my Evo) but to my understanding this ROM is pretty damn complete and for the most part is only missing Wimax. Give it a try.

Double edit - MMS is also broken in P3, but preludedrew has said he's fixed both headphones and MMS. I am guessing P4 will be uploaded tonight.

I ran P3 for most of the day and it is great, only reason I nandroided back is I want a camera as my wife could go into labor any minute and will want to post pics of the new guy. The issues I quoted are the current big ones from what I've read. P4 should resolve the MMS and the headphone issue.

Edit - and you do need gapps, there is one linked in the OP of the thread on xda that worked fine for me.
 
there is a keyboard on mine. that is how I did it too. I flashed the gapps right after the rom before i booted up too.

what kernel is suggested for this?
 
Yeah I flashed just like I normally do. I flashed the gappsA in the OP on xda, maybe that was my issue. I flashed one initially that was later in the thread, might not have been legit or something, so who knows, but it's working now. Voice to Text was still enabled by default though. Then I had issues downloading from the market, kept giving me errors, but a reboot fixed it.

Very very impressed with the feel though. Absolutely cannot wait for a stable build. I noticed with SetCPU that my processor is struggling to stay at the minimum Mhz. Maybe that's just a kernel settling issue? I rolled it to the regular smartass governor.

I am amazed at how much cooler the Google Talk interface is now. That is my favorite part so far.
 
Has the horrible lag been fixed yet? I flashed P3 I think when it was made available but it was not usable as a daily.
 
i think I had tried it before but forgot the gapps or was unaware of them or something. didn't work out too well so I left it.

P3 with gapps A worked out fine last night. I really like this rom now that it works.

I had a bit of a puzzle though, I couldn't get TB to restore anything.It would start but then just hang up forever. I went to the market to re download it and saw there was an update. When I got and installed it, it would restore just fine.

I'm going to try P4 right now. I keep forgetting how fast AOSP roms are. Been shying away from them due to the endless bootloop issue some have had.
 
Gave it a shot and it installed no problem with gapps A from that original xda thread. Can't use it as a daily driver yet since nav is buggy (I drive a lot for work) and I'd really like the camera to work, but it's amazing to play with and get a great preview of ICS. Gingerbread feels so dated now. :D
 
Yeah this preview has me very anxious for a build that is fully functional. Not a daily driver by any means yet but it's getting there. I think there are some aspects that feel like miui.

As far as speed goes it's not as fast as the gingerbread aosp stuff but I don't expect it to be at this point.
 
Finally tried this out today for a bit, and while it is of course not stable enough for daily sue, I am really impressed with what ICS has to offer right out of the box. I'll definitely be trying out CM9 when they release a stable build.

And I'm also curious to see how HTC integrates the new ICS features into Sense, looking forward to some ports of that in the future as well...
