Also just saw article where Verizon wants camera in set top box to send targetted ads.Others either have a patent or want.
How far will they be allowed to go? If you are on the computer and watching TV at the same time, will the show be held up until the damn TV gets your full attention? What if you are doing more than cuddling while watching TV?

What kind of ads would you get? I suppose the box could be made to beep until you paid full attention.

I don't really mind some ads, but this is too much.

VZW will take all the steps it can to make more money. As much as i like VZW for giving great service they are pretty money grub and crazy about branding...

You still watch tv and pay for cable? How sad your world must be... I gave up on tv and cable years ago and feels much better... Gives you this sense of freedom in some ways.

I have OTA and tell cable and satellite to get lost until I can get Baseball and Football only. Trouble is - OTA ain't making the big boys any money.

its cheaper for me to have cable and internet vs just internet thru charter. we get the whole nine yards tho. hbo cinamax, everything :D

Advertisers will stop at nothing to get the adds to you that is no surprise. I think it will be interesting to see where Canada takes it but really the article talks of one person and I wonder how long she will bark before she is silenced. The only way to truly get away from advertising is to live in the mountains and off the land and never need to go anywhere. To be fully self sufficient in those surroundings.

Thats the whole point of making you watch as much tv as they possible can. I did have some sort of package they call it triple play tv/phone/internet. It was cheaper but when i called them to cancel my tv and phone line they bumped my Internet price to 49

I would fix that real quick with some black tape.

If you were more than cuddling, Hmm..."Trojan Maaaan"?

First you have to know it's there. Look at the kid with the school-issued Apple laptop who the monitors of the laptop assumed was drugging. (Big case a while ago)

Most people don't have sense enough to look.

Why do you think google came up with android? As far as I know Android is the first phone to serve up ads. Google didn't run with android out of the kindness of their hearts. lol

I hypothesize they bought out youtube to run some ads.

Hey, they may come out with brain implants to serve up ads like in this movie.

Hardwired (2009) - Plot Summary

I too think advertising has gone overboard...

Advocates: Free market doesn't work for online privacy - Computerworld

Some of these people don't realize that they are just pushing stuff that no one really wants. If they do track via history, it doesn't seem to do any good about ad offerings. I am NOT interested in jewelry or fashion. I just might want an Ioptron mount for my telescope. Can I just get those pertinent ads? Hell, no.

I just ignore the others or turn off images. Adblock plus is also good.
