This is the answer as quoted from the OP(original post):D
he PRL helps determine which home-network towers to use, and also which towers belonging to other networks to use in roaming situations (areas where the home network has no coverage.) When roaming, the PRL may instruct the phone to use the network with the best roaming rate for the carrier, rather than the one with the strongest signal at the moment.

Since a PRL tells the phone "where" to search for a signal, as carrier networks change over time, an updated PRL may be required for a phone to "see" all of the coverage that it should, both with the home network and for roaming.

ok heads up my fellow esteemers a gift to try out with ya esteems thanks to get@me he found a way to pull it from the metro gs3 i just wanna see if this prl improves anything with the esteem so if some1 could manually push and post back results im really curious since i have no longer my esteem.

Has anyone been able to load this PRL onto an Esteem? Using QPST, I can go up and down with any of the 30xx PRLs but it fails every time I try to write 2031.

Dunno about speed tho...Its pretty crap out here on the east coast of florida but will report back ;)

Data works, phone works, 3.5 down 4.6 up..pretty much normal...We have really crappy weather right now so that could be playing with the speeds...could be faster? Dunno. Will report back tho

any word on talk and data simultaneously? im gonna flash it tonight i just am not by my computer right now.
 
Thanks shiny bud it was worth trying out just wondering why metro has a different prl for the gs3 anyways maybe some more testing will reveal something.
 
Hello i'm from Ecuador (South America) and i just got this phone to try it out in my city. Do you recommend me to use the prl posted?. I just finished updating to stock ZVD and the prl i got from the update is: 20033.

Also (and sorry for the offtopic) should i stay on stock ZVD or do you guys recommend me a custom ROM as always to improve speeds and get rid of all the METRO bloatware as i'm not going to need it.

No, don't flash this PRL. It is only for MetroPCS customers. You will lose service with your current provider if you flash any PRL besides the one your service provider flashed.

Edit: if you don't have a provider and you flash it, you won't notice a difference. The PRL tells the phone which cell towers to connect to.
 
What area are you in no prl update i did this *228 3times a day since the 5th day of may nothing on the eastside yet .
