fyi some folks reporting update to ZVE, along with different PRL scheme...ie 1005
I found the 1005 on my wifes esteem, after it tried but failed to OTA. I am not sure that 1005 is liget, as I tried replacing it with downloaded 3032 and while it said it completed successfully the phone still reports 1005.

I did the *228 thingie, hoping to receive 3034(although now i understand it's only for S3)...and got downgraded from 3033 to 3032....

I just tried it here at home and it bumped me back to Sprint's 1x. I'll be in Chicago on Wednesday, and according to Sensorly, there are small spots of 4g emerging, so I'll be sure to test it then.

I tried it but didn't see anything, but I'll be here until the 31st, so I'll try again later. But on a side note: why the hell does Sprint have such spotty coverage in downtown Chicago of all places?

Definition for prl: The Preferred Roaming List, basically a way of telling your phone which towers to connect to first.
The PRL helps determine which home-network towers to use, and also which towers belonging to other networks to use in roaming situations (areas where the home network has no coverage.) When roaming, the PRL may instruct the phone to use the network with the best roaming rate for the carrier, rather than the one with the strongest signal at the moment.

Since a PRL tells the phone "where" to search for a signal, as carrier networks change over time, an updated PRL may be required for a phone to "see" all of the coverage that it should, both with the home network and for roaming.

Your PRL can be update via your phone by dialing *228 and choosing option #5(preferred roaming list).

Update prl using QPST

generate your spc for qpst or lgnpst here :-)

Downgrading your PRL can be accomplished via the link above. I will add how to do it via LGNPST soon. :)

Explanation of PRL,tut, and links from Android Forums - View Profile: blaxican25 from his OP over in the Esteem thread. I can host also if need be if a link goes down.

Hello! If you don't mind can you tell me Which one is the latest PRL for metro pcs sgs3. I've got on my sgs3 ( 2034 )

What do you mean officially through *228? Thats how I got it on mine like 2 months ago

Lol I haven't been able to update. 228 would say it couldn't so I gave up, lol about 2 months ago. I'm in Dallas & we seem to be last on any updates like that lol

New PRL's out
2035 for S3 & 3035 for everybody else
Do you by chance have a link to that? For some reason, thought it might have been the esteem but still happening with the cdma s3 now I activated today and it put me on prl 1005.
I just tried a prl update and same.

OK did some testing and I have to say im confused. As I said before on the esteem ever since the ZVE update, possibly before never paid it too much attention, plr would be 1005. do a *228 update prl 1005 would be the one, use cdma ws or qpst and push 3033 and few days later 1005 would be back on. And even sometimes cdma would not show prl 3033 on the phone even right after pushing, but that was infrequent.

So fast forward today I activated this (new to me) S3, before I activated I used cdma ws to pull the 2034 prl so I had it. When it activated here it now has prl 1005.
I tried *228 and pushing with cdma ws and qpst and 2034 never shows up. Heck I even pushed 3033 just to see if it would do something. nope.

Maybe it's your line I would pull it of my phone for you but I have a wonky charging port

Oh yeah and I'm guessing in certain markets if you don't hop on 3035 soon enough you'll have to use QPST or go to a metro store to update it and continue using CDMA

And in some markets like NYC for example if they are to do the spectrum combine tonight if your not on 3035 you probably wont be able to get on CDMA anymore and would have to go to the store to get the new PRL

Or flash 3035 at home with QPST :p
