I have been rooted now for some time and have just loved it. Started out with digitalkarma and now am on the Strike ROM...both which have been awesome ROMs. I have, however, noticed that my 3g speeds are abysmal. Can I update my PRL? I was thinking of trying the Nitrous ROM and was wondering if that would work.

If the strike rom is a sense rom (I think it is) you can update your prl...it wont hurt.
When you flashed the Strike rom, is that when you noticed your 3G speeds suffer?
You can try to first wipe cache and dalvik cache in recovery then reboot and see if that helps at all

I think the Strike ROM is unfortunately an AOSP but I've had it for a couple of months. I will try wiping the cache and Dalvik cache and see if that gets better.
If I do get the Nitrous Sense ROM which is based off of 2.3.5, will I be able to update the EVO to the particular PRL file that I have?

You can, if you will be on a sense rom.
If you are running an AOSP rom, you cannot update your prl.
And I know with sense roms (maybe not all of them) you can install a particular prl if you desire. (using the ##775# code with the prl of choice on your sd card etc etc) But we can get into that later.
How long has your 3g signal been poor? Could there be tower issues/maintenance/upgrades in your area?

yes so like mikey said you have to be on sense rom to update prl and i would also update profile as well. also are you current with you radios? we just had an ota for the og evo and we also have the radios from it as well.

Thank you Mikestony and ocnbrze for the info! I had no idea a new radio update was out.
So I wiped the cache and dalvik cache and the speed seems to have improved a little bit. I think my 3g download speeds over time though have just been getting slower.
In regards to updating the PRL, it seems I need to get the new EPST app, MSL number, Dial ##775# ect. to update the PRL....but only after going to Nitrous! This sound about right? Thank you folks for all the help!

if you are on sense you can just go to settings/phone/update prl/update profile. there is no need to use epst codes. i can't remember exactly where to find it on the og evo as i'm on aosp right now. but you should find it in the phone's settings.
