Root problem restoring nandroid backup.

Prime85

Android Expert
i tryed installing the rom zero 2.2.1 and left my phone in a loop so i went to restore the nand. i was told to run adb nandrestore something.sh

so i couldnt get the nandroid to restore my phone, i used this as an excuse to try the chickeneater rom.

my phone works now with the checkeneater rom, i am just wondering if anyone else has had this problem with the 2.2.1 custom recovery trying to restore the nand.

It happened to me. Not sure why. I tried nandroid from PC, but it did not work. I guess sometimes nandroid makes corrupted images. I always keep files with Mybackup root as well as nandroid. In case this happens at least I dont need to spend hours looking for the apps I had.

Uh oh, I was messing with the status bar background colors and had the need to do a nandroid backup (woops) and I get the same problem Prime85 had. I tried restarting the phone and trying again (like new optimus suggested) with no success either. Why does this happen, and how many others has this happened to? I'm wondering if I did something wrong on the install (COMPLETELY probable) or if it might be a common problem. I'll have to look into "mybackup root" as unnamedny suggested.

Whats your battery level? both when you made the back up and when you try to restore it.
I think a too low level will make corrupt image.
And if you try restoring with it too low it also will not work, the good news with that though is charge the battery and try again works.

not sure how my battery was when i made the nandroid backup, but the battery was pretty low (i'd say under 40% at least) when i tried to restore. I ended up flashing everything back to out of the box state, then re-rooting the phone and uninstalling bloatware with a little better precision then when i first learned how to do everything. practice makes perfect as they say. but thanks for the tip, i'll be sure to monitor my battery closer when backing up/restoring in the future.
