problem while trying to install amon_ra

That is really strange that one app would download, but not another. I read somewhere that retrying the download sometimes gets it to work. :)

Maybe you should give that a try and see what happens. I hope the rest of your experiences with rooting are less dramatic. ;)

Astro finally worked =]

Successfully rooted, and then flashed the radio. Now am proceeding to put on CM6. Thank you for all the help!! really really appreciate it =]

No problem at all, man. I would recommend flashing Colin's battery tweak after you flash CyanogenMod 6. It helps with the scaling of the CPU and tends to favor better battery life more. Also, do not forget to do a Nandroid backup before you do anything major like flashing a new ROM. ;)

Finally, if you are into overclocking you can flash the uncapped kernel and boost your CPU frequency to 768 MHz. Just be sure to regulate it with SetCPU or the Overclock widget. :)

Oh yes i was planning on that but completely forgot due to all the frustration from earlier.

Thanks for the reminders ^_^

Oh but i heard not to use the collins battery tweak setcpu at the same time or something...

I have not heard that, but if you have then I would probably follow that rule then. You can always just let the battery tweak handle the CPU scaling by itself as it does a pretty good job anyway.

CyanogenMod 6 ramps the CPU frequency up to 691 MHz by default anyway. That should be plenty snappy enough for you to start out with.

Yea well ill start out slow and then see what happens =]

(btw where do i download colins battery tweak and the others....)

Do NOT use the battery tweak with setcpu or oc widget, you can set the scaling through collin's

Personally, I would give the uncapped kernel a go first before collin's battery tweak. You will see better battery life with a stable kernel;)

How do i go about doing that?

BTW, what version of the CM6 are you running?

If you are running the RC1, you WILL have to flash an uncapped kernel to scale above 691

If you flashed the most recent of nightlies, you can go above 691 with the stock kernel using setcpu or oc widget. Uncapped will help with battery life though

i downloaded 6.0.0 heroc rc1

Ok, you WILL have flash an uncapped kernel to scale above 691 (if you want). Best way to flash the uncapped

nandroid;)
download kernel of your choice (#11 or #14 recommended)
boot into recovery
wipe Davlik cache
flash zip
reboot phone

Then after you are done rebooting, I would download setcpu or oc widget. Then you scale to your phones liking

alright done and done. I think thats about everything i guess...things are running swimmingly, now jsut trying to readd the texts and old apps and what not.

If i do in the future decide to want to use collins battery though, what exactly should i not be doing while using overclock at the same time....

and thanks again for everyones help!

If you find that your battery is not all that great, wipe your battery stats;) You can do that in recovery

Charge phone full (100%)
Boot into recovery and wipe battery stats, then reboot phone
Let the phone completely die (0%)
Then plug phone into charger(do not take off charger until completely charged) should take 4-5 hours to recharge
