Root problem with aahk

Haven't used the Desire HD for a while (since upgraded to the nexus 4), but I think the last Rom I used was Ice cold sandwich. Got Rom, nice and stable.

IceCold all the way... went to CM10.1 recently, but am not sure if I've got one more flash in me before I move over to the Nexus 4!
 
lol... I've been a little tied up this weekend and know that work's going to be busy for the next week or so, by which time, I'm likely to have the new toy!! :D
 
hmmm...... just a quickie (hopefully), am i doing something daft??? cant boot into recovery. ive unchecked fastboot, and powered off. then hold down volume down, and press power on. but it just boots up normally!! every time!

anything im missing here??

If you're still having trouble mate, you could download "Rom Manager" and there is an option in there to reboot into recovery. Give that a whirl.
 
Hey guys, I know this may look cheeky what with a new user piggybacking like this, but I found this thread through Google, and I have exactly the same problem as described here! I've got the 110912 version of AAHK, but it's obviously unable to download the RUU because of the server shut down. How did you manage to get this working in the end? Would be very grateful of any help. Thanks in advance.
 
you guys can try downgrading manually. the aahk should have at that point successfully change your main version,so you just need to flash the downgrade ruu,either run the .exe as is,or extract rom.zip and flash thru fastboot,or via hboot from the sd.

the first downgrade is to 2.50.405.2: shipped roms RUU-2.50.405.2

ace folder: shipped roms-ace

extract rom.zip:
the .exe utilities can be finicky,so if you have trouble getting it to run, you can extract "rom.zip" in the following manner:
-start the utility
-check the "i understand" box to move on to the next screen
-hide the utility temporarily out of site
-search your C drive for "rom.zip". you will find it in a temporary location(it will be in a different spot each time you run the utility)
-open the folder location,and transfer rom.zip to a safe location on your PC.
-unhide and cancel the utility,youre done with it.
-rom.zip can be renamed to PxxxIMG and flashed in hboot,from a FAT32 sd card

Hi there, thanks for the info. However, I don't really get what to do! (Sorry bit of a novice when it comes to rooting) What's fast boot/hboot, and how do I go about flashing the rom that i've downloaded? I'm on 2.3.5 by the way, Gingerbread 2.50 is definitely a downgrade right? Sorry to be a pain.

hi mate, yeah it can be a bit confusing cant it :-)

in the end i got sorted with the help of stevevercs ^^^ who shared a different version of aahk with me on dropbox. it worked faultlessly. if you can find it anywhere, the version he shared was 'aahk-07052012'

I managed to download "aahk-07052012" but it still didn't work. I presume this is because Steve sent you a version with the required downgrade roms pre-installed into it or something along those lines. I'll send him a PM asking him about it cos it seems like I'm in exactly the same position you were. Thanks for your help anyways.
 
ah right, ok. id send or share it with you myself, but dont know how to. if anyone here wishes to explain how i can share this youre welcome to it.

sorry for the late reply. the file i linked is a .exe file. you just run it as administrator on your PC and plug the phone in when directed. assuming your gold card is made correctly,and the aahk has successfully lowered your main version it will install.

aftwerward,just run the aahk again. this time you can just start the hack step,as youve allready manually donwgraded.

alternately,you can extract rom.zip from the utility in this manner:

afterward,just rename it to PD98IMG and place it on the root of your FAT32 formatted sd card(the format is important!). power off,pull the battery for a few seconds,then hold vol down and power until you get a white screen. the phone should find the file and promt you to update. reboot when it tells you its finished.

after the phone boots,immediately remove or rename PD98IMG to something else. :)

I've downloaded aahk-11092012.zip, PD98IMG.zip and RUU_Ace_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.50.405.2_Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2_release_199042_signed.exe.

What should I do next? Put PD98IMG.zip in the PD98IMG folder and run AAHK again? thanks.

Edit: sorry, didn't look through the latest posts. According to the instructions given by scotty85, should I do the steps in the following order?

1. run RUU_Ace_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.50.405.2_Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2_release_199042_signed.exe

2. put PD98IMG.zip in the PD98IMG folder

3. run aahk

the downgrade wont install unless youve run the aahk once so that it lowers your main version,and creates a gold card. heres what i would do:

1)extract rom.zip as described above
2)place rom.zip into the "place pd98img here" folder(rename "PD98IMG")
3)run aahk. im not sure if it will want to download the downgrade,or if it will take PD98IMG from the folder.

if #3 fails with the unable to download error described by the other guys,then go ahead and run the .exe,or place PD98IMG on the sd and let hboot install. then run aahk again.

it may work just fine,and downgrade and complete the process,im not that familiar with the aahk's inner workings.

A high-level DHD/Inspire manual S-OFF hack concept for advanced users | TAU – It's All About The Negative

It's manual and it's for moderately advanced users, but I maintain that anyone who can't get that done has no business doing S-OFF where you can flash radios and hboots and such.

For the record, the name of the file used in the PD98IMG directory of the hack kit depended on the CID of the DHD. It's NEVER PD98IMG.zip, and it has to be the right one so that the MD5 will match.

Use the new method. If you aren't willing to learn how, then I think you really need to be doing something else.

Hi, i'm having trouble With the Advanced Ace Hack Kit rooting, i'm a bit of a noob so some assistanse would/will be appreahiated :) the problem the same as in this thread:http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-all-things-root/694853-problem-aahk.html . And was solved by help of file sharing so if someone kind hearted can help me out i Will be very greatfull :) I have really struggeled With this rooting Thing and have used alot of time and then somethings wrong?..... Anyways, please help

Per my post directly above your's, we are not able to share the file (at the request of the Dev who made the AAHK) - hope you can understand.

If you see my post (2 above my last one), there are links to a comprehensive how to root your phone, without using the AAHK (several people have followed the steps successfully) :)
