Root Problem with crashing while using Wifi tether

Hey there!
Well i'm having a problem when I use Wifi Tether and it causes my phone to crash. And the only way to turn it back on is too take out the battery and put it back in. This only happens when I text people while using the wifi tether. Is there a way to fix this?!!?!? :( Btw does your 4g d/c due to text messages too?

try and wipe dalvik cache and cache and see if that helps. also what rom and kernel are you on?

Thanks! Will wiping both cache do anything harmful to my phone? Sorry kinda new to this lol. Ummm my kernel version is 2.6.35 and where do I find Rom? Sorry lol if this is any trouble to you.

no worries.

no wiping dalvik cache and cache will not do anything to your phone. if anything it will help. the cache's are where your phone store temporary files and some times the files can get corrupted and it will cause things to not work properly. that is why anytime you have any glitches, bugs or errors clearing them out from time to time will help the phone. it might even speed things up as well.

if you have not flashed a custom rom yet then you are probably are on stock. how did you root the phone?
 
Thanks for letting me know about that! Is there a program that I will need to install to wipe it? And.... honestly I forgot how I did it. It was a long time ago lol and I think I just youtubed it. I feel kinda dumb atm lol.

no do not feel dumb. it is all good. ok so lets first go to the bootloader. power off then press and hold power+vol down. you may have to disable fastboot (settings>apps>uncheck fastboot). this will take you to the bootloader. report back what you see on the screen.

and while you are there you can select recovery at the bottom of the recovery menu, it should say what recovery you have. what recovery do yo have?

here is a great guide for you that will help you. just skip the rooting process and go to the after root section:

Alright ill do this when I go to my friends house cause im using my phone as wifi atm lol.

Alright so on the bootloader I saw revolutionary and on the recovery I saw build ra supersonic 2.3

i was hoping for the hboot version, but revolutionary is enough to know that your hboot is probably 6.16. and ra supersonic 2.3 is amon ra 2.3. so that is good news.

now go into recovery and select wipe in the main menu. after that wipe dalvik cache and cache then reboot.

like apps in general? or root required apps?

for root required apps i would recommend titanium backup (backs your apps and data), setcpu (so that you can over and underclock your phone, you need a custom kernel), terminal emulator (needed to run certain scripts, like dark tremors).

i would suggest that you read the dummies guide i linked you to. it has tons of info that you should know.
