VZW Nexus Please!!!
Here's the background story...
My last phone was the Samsung Fascinate. I wanted to unroot, ODIN back to the stock Fascinate ROM, and then download the 2.2 OTA update so I can sell it. You have to have VZW service on the Fascinate to get the OTA so...
I powered off my T-Bolt, and then dialed *228 from my Fascinate in order to activate it. I was prompted with an automated message that stated I would have 90 days to reinsert my 4G sim card into a 4G capable phone and if more than 90 days, the sim card would need to be replaced. I didn't see much harm in doing this switch because after all, I was going to switch to the Fascinate for about an hour or so.
I figured that if I turned off the Fascinate and then powered back up the Thunderbolt, I would be good to go. Wrong!
I then tried to call 1-877-807-4646 (posted here) from a non-VZW phone and was told by an automated message that my sim card was invalid. I then talked to a VZW CSR and explained the situation. No big deal right? Wrong!
My sim card is now invalid and I need to drive to a corporate store tomorrow and pick up a new one tomorrow (just what I wanted to do). While this isn't the biggest problem in the world. I would have deactivated my wife's 3G phone and switched the Fascinate to that number if I would have known that VZW still hasn't provisioned their network properly.
Popping your SIM card into another 4G phone might not cause a problem, but I wouldn't recommend trying to switch from a 4G phone to a 3G phone.
Verizon...get your heads out of your asses
. This is a stupid problem and really makes it look like you don't have a clue how to manage this 4G network (or the devices on it). While this isn't a HUGE deal that is going to affect millions of people...it's an unnecessary pain in the ass.
