Help problem with droid (newbie question)

hey y'all i got a motorola droid (A855) running 2.2 'course so it came with a 16gb sd card, when it updated it started running real slow, i took out the card and presto like you all know the internet was loading faster, multiple windows opened over each other to my satisfaction, and much else. but when i put in the card it freezes up. i poked around online for awhile, was in a rush today and just dumped a bunch of stuff--like 5-6 gigs or so--off it. runs smoother now but still the problem lurks. any help?

If you have access to another micro sd card please try it and see what happens.
4 and 8gb cards are getting so cheap that it might be worth getting one if you don't already.
I saw some other people have odd problems with the phone when the SD card was bad and there are a shocking quantity of bad/counterfeit/relabled sd cards running around.
