Help Problem

Obviously your phone is rooted, but are you running the custom clockwork recovery? Nandroid backups are a function of recovery menus, and are essentially just complete backups of your phone's internal memory.

So for instance, you make a nandroid backup before you do something potentially risky to the phone. If you mess something up, then you restore the nandroid backup and the phone is exactly as it was before you messed around. They are extremely handy things to have.

In the case of the flashing to stock thread, somebody has made a backup of a phone running the stock firmware, which you can restore on your phone to get it working again.

If you aren't using a recovery image at the moment however, then you'll need to pick the other method.

Thats the prob, they dont have a backup or cwmr, I dont think. Dont think they get how to do it from the PC either which can be difficult even for advanced users sometimes lol.

Tho I can upload the rom manager.apk and they can install it from their sd card.

Ive downloaded rom manager - Using clockwork and when i try to pick the Reset to stock File. it doesnt show up. It needs to be in a zip file and its not in it.

The restoring thread has a link to a pre-made nandroid backup of the stock ROM, so you would only need the recovery image installed already :)

EDIT: The file linked to is a .7z file. I'm assuming that the recovery image doesn't use .7z files, so I'm guessing you need to extract the files from the .7z file first, just like you would extract files from a .zip folder.

I'll download it and have a look.

be easier for you to try a new rom now lol.... But...

I think you can take the .img files from the stock recovery zip n make a backup file with it.

Give me a few while I read the .bat file n look at a recovery in cwm...

Ok, I see why you had a problem with the nandroid file. Here's what you need to do:

- Download the file, which should be a .7z file.
- Extract the five files within that using a program like 7zip. You should get four .img files and a .md5 file.
- Put the files within /sdcard/nandroid/mem=211M/stock/
- Follow the rest of the instructions in the metropcs nandrod section of that thread. (You are on metro right?)

Alright ill try that out - as a matter of face ive just extracted it so do i just put that whole folder in the sd card file?

Yeah, you just cut and paste those 5 files into the /stock/ folder. To clarify, you don't want to move the folder to /stock/, you want to move the contents of that folder to /stock/ - there shouldn't be any folders contained within the /stock/ folder, only those five files.

That's probably what you meant anyway, but it can't hurt to be sure we're on the same page :)

For a second i was so happy, thought i got it but when i saw the xperia play boot up go on i was like damn it!

think I got sumtin going here, if it workss I'll let yanna lol

so far so good ;)

Sure you dont want to install cm6 or 7???? lol

Hey Xyro, CWM 3 doesnt have the nand restore option.

Would it work from the CWM recover folder?

Honestly? I don't know. I'm not familiar with the different versions of clockwork and such; my phone is a lot more straight forward in that department.

What's the difference between doing a nandrestore and putting it in the recover folder?

I don't know the ins and outs of rooting your phone, as you can tell :P

success!!!!!

LuLu, move the stock folder to the CWM/backup/recovery/ folder n then boot into recovery and goto backup n recovery n select the stock folder.

So it's just a nandroid backup by another name?

Strange how clockwork would change the file directory for it since that guide was written.

CWM 2 must have looked for the Nand folder n 3 doesnt just looks for zips outside of the CWM folder.

Right, that makes sense then.

Maybe I'll update the guide to make people aware of that once we hear back from Lulu.
