Root Problems now That I'm On Froyo (Velocity 1.0)

First of all I would like to thank all of the developers that took the time and effort to put together these ROMs and aid us in the process of getting them on our phones. Upon flashing to Froyo (Velocity 1.0) my GPS doesn't work and when downloading items from the internet such as Music albums the download will stop, and say "the content is not supported on this phone." I love the new ROMs but I was hoping that someone could look into these issues. I didn't have either issue before Froyo and I've tried clearing cache, dalvik, re-flashing etc. Thanks In Advance.

Interesting I had somewhat a similar issue (messed around with too many settings and had to reflash after doing so I nothing would work... I solved this by reflashing and reflashing till it worked.... it only took about 10x of wiping the entire data, cache etc.... but it works fine now.... Thank God for appbrain..... I keep an upto-date copy of my installed apps.....

Astro file manager settings download unsupported content. GPS just sucks, gotta deal with it.

My gps always takes awile to lock on, ever since stock, you can try going into the settings and allowing it to use wifi and 3g networks to try and aquire location, seems to speed things up sometimes.

And as for the unsupported content its because the browser doesnt know what to do wtih the file. You can download a good fileman like astro as GRZLA suggested, you should be ok,

My gps worked great and locked on super fast with Velocity 0.4, so I am a little disappointed that it doesn't work as well on V1.0. I finally got mine to lock on to my location after about 30 minutes. I usually keep the gps off to save battery life and only turn it on if I need nav. so the long delay makes it pretty much useless now...

I've not noticed any "new" problem with my GPS since updating. Which program are you using?

I ask because like savoxis suggests the initial lock on has always sucked. I find this especially true if using any of the google apps, no matter if I had stock or custom roms. I found a program called gps status and it locks on almost instantly in comparison. When I use gps I find it is faster to load gps status, get a lock, and then switch to the google app than wait for google to locate me.

I know this might not be a proper solution but it might make things easier in the mean time, try and see if it works for you.

Im using Google Maps. Before installation of Velocity 1.1 my GPs would lock on instantly. always. since then i havent seen it lock on one single time which sucks for weather apps that are based upon my location or if i need directions. Ive uninstalled reinstalled the app because ive heard of problems with the actual app but to no avail.

How do you have Velocity 1.1

I'm not sure there is an exact science to the GPS. My wife and I both have Ally's. Often we will both GPS the same location that we're going because more often than not, one of the phones locks on to GPS way sooner than the other. It seems to be 50/50 as to which, and this has always been the case, even when I was running punisher and she was running 0.4. I've had instances where it took 20 minutes for it to lock on while hers got on almost instantly with her sitting right next to me in the car. Sometimes the opposite is the case. Typically once one finds it, I shut the other off, but sometimes I'll let it go just to see how long it takes. It also seems, and this may be imagination, that if it has been a long time since I've used the GPS, it takes longer to find a signal.

I realize this is useless info to you. Just saying.

My GPS lock is about the same as stock with Velocity 1.0, which is to say, not all that fast, usually takes several minutes. I've had other GPS phones and the lock-on time has been similar. My TomTom can take several minutes, also. GPS is line of sight, that is the source of many of the limitations, IMO.
