Root Problems with CWMod Recovery

kylemac17

Newbie
I'm having some trouble with flashing ClockworkMod's Recovery. It seems that I can successfully flash the recovery (I get the message that says the recovery has flashed successfully) and I can reboot into within Rom Manager. But when I try to reboot into after powering off with the SEND+MENU+PWR keys pressed and releasing at the LG logo, I get the yellow exclamation point triangle and android guy and my phone reboots to the home screen. I read Dots' guide and followed it accurately, I was even able to backup my Stock Rom via rom manager.

I'm rooted and would really like to try out some custom roms but I want to be sure I have a working recovery before I take the plunge.

If anyone has any suggestions they would be much appreciated :)

Thanks

Try removing the file called install-recovery.sh It is what restores the stock recovery and keeps custom recoveries from sticking.

Two ways.

1. In terminal emulator or adb:
Code:
su

mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system

mv /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.bak

or

Download the attatchment called "Signed_kill_install-recovery.sh" from this post. http://androidforums.com/getitnowmarketing/146564-ally-recovery-img-here-custom-roms.html

Thanks dots, I tried the commands in terminal emulator. Tried to reboot into recovery and it was the same old story, I'll try them in adb and the other option too though.

Thanks :)

Those need to be removed prior to flashing recovery or flash the zip while in custom recovery.
