Profiling terrorists

Not to turn this discussion into race or to sound racist, but the simple fact is that there are no white terrorists for the most part. I know that some good people do not want to fall into a steriotype, but the fact remains that people from the east that are of a certain look and skin color are terrorists, we know that for a fact. We're not talking about one random guy here, we're talking about people at war with us and who hate us with a passion. If we know that for a fact we must be looking at these people first and more often. The good and decent people that fall into this steriotype due to no fault of their own and have to deal with this should be capable of understanding what's going on. I know for a fact that if five white men were caught doing something crazy in other countries and if I were to be there as a white male, people would be looking at me more to see what I'm all about and why I'm there, and that's fine. It's really sad, we're so afraid of being politically incorrect that we're willing to let potential terrorists walk by unchecked.

It's really not about hating skin color, but if 100 blue guys all killed 100 red guys, you have to look at the blue guys, don't you? You wouldn't go around looking for orange guys for no reason.

I'm an Asian guy. Last time I flew my backpack was unpacked right in front of all the other passengers three different times. Once at the security checkpoint and twice afterwards. In all three cases the lovely security officers left all my stuff laying all over the place and left me to re-pack it. One of those times was while my flight was boarding. That was convenient. Something about the way I look clearly set them off.

This has happened to me as well, though I am not Asian (I'm Caucasian). Not sure how that is significant?

Last time I flew I was selected for a random bomb residue screening at the Des Moines Airport as well. I think the word "random" sets people off. If you are avoiding all ethnic people in fear they are going to get upset, the screening is no longer random. Don't get me wrong, I am sure it isn't always TRULY random, but I think Americans tend to play the prejudice card too frequently.

I also wonder how sensitive these tests are. Let's say I work pyrotechnics in Hollywood on movie sets. Will leftover residue on a coat, hands, etc. trigger this machine to pull out the red flags?

I think we have moved too far off on a tangent.

I agree with this as my wife had to do a random screening when we was flying to Orlando. Shes a white female so I guess they was singling her out because she was female?

I'd be like, "Damn. I put my random bomb in my checked baggage. Will that cause problems?"

LOL . . . be careful, A.Nonymous... if you are on a plane that blows up, the TSA and the secret people with three letter names we dare not speak might find your AF post and charge you.

For the record, I have been told to say that you are not a terrorist.

How'd you like to sit next to a guy like that on a plane? How about if instead of catching guys like that, your friendly TSA guy was just more worried about other things?
the Oklahoma City Bombing killed 168 people, injured 450, and was the deadliest act of terrorism within the United States prior to the September 11, 2001 attacks. McVeigh, a militia movement sympathizer, sought revenge against the federal government for its handling of the Waco Siege, which had ended in the deaths of 76 people exactly two years earlier

That's somehow messed up thinking. To 'avenge' the 76 people that died...you kill over double the amount.

I wouldn't. That said, he did say "for the most part", and I think that stands very true. Safety screenings are a tough call. I certainly don't see how random screenings do much to strengthen our security though. Many terrorists have proven they are willing to die. The small risk of being caught in a random test isn't going to dissuade them one bit. Test all, or test none. Even testing the vast majority isn't enough IMO.

Sigh, clearly the point was missed. In current times (let's say past 20 years), I think statistics have shown that most terrorists against America haven't been white. Being that we are talking about the TSA, I think it's fair to keep the discussion about the US, no?

Your first link shows the biggest group, by far, to be Latino. To be fair, not what I would have expected, but I think the point still stands.

I think a little bit depends on what is considered terrorism here, too. Terrorism has become synonymous with bombing and murder in the name of a specific cause, thanks to the media. I haven't heard of large Latino groups killing mass amounts of people to get their point across. I could be wrong.

From the FBI doc it seems that a lot of the Latino attacks are Peurto Rican freedom fighters
Ejercito Popular Boricua Macheteros
Organization of Volunteers for the Puerto Rican Revolution

So these attacks are happening in Puerto Rico? In that case that is naming Latino terrorists against the US on a technicality.

Why not let's move this to another thread? This has strayed quite far from the TSA ripping people off.

There's a white terrorist in Norway right now.

Hitler was white.

Ad infinitum throughout history.

Disgusting people come in all colors, sizes and shapes.

Not right now, if you didn't notice, we have Muslim extremists out to take the country down. We know they're looking to kill us and basically what they look like.
