Profiling terrorists

Not right now, if you didn't notice, we have Muslim extremists out to take the country down. We know they're looking to kill us and basically what they look like.
You seem to think every second Muslim is a terrorist. Do you watch Fox News? Cos after three hours of Sky News last night I could see why you are terrified of the Muslims.
Did you see my link on a few posts back? Should we suspect every Peurto Rican?

Why do people feel the need to take the one rare case and try to counter a perfectly sound argument with it?
Isnt every case of terrorism therefore rare
In case you didnt notice, in Norway, Europe a Christian fundamentalist gunned down and caused the deaths of nearly 90 kids. 90 kids.
The Finland school shooter was Atheist.
A Jewish man shot many innocent Palestinians in the name of his god

There are mentally unstable people everywhere and once they are tipped and lose grip on reality, they will do awful things. Whatever their religion, or lack of.

Quite frankly after what has been done to us I really don't give a damn if some unrelated Muslims are slightly inconvenienced if that's what it's going to take find the one's looking to destroy us. That's basically the bottom line. Muslims are going to be looking to kill us from now till the world ends, this is what has to be done in my view. If they don't like it, they can not fly, or not be here at all. Whatever it takes to protect the country.

That's great, until another group is place in our sites. Then another, and another, until the entire world hates us. US against the world doesn't sound like a great thing to me. You can;t automatically violate a persons civil rights for the color of their skin or their religion, or anything else.

Your ignorance of history is sad, but could be cured by education. The US has long been a corporate imperialist state, exercising it's will on foreign governments and populations through assassination, overthrow of democratic regimes, military invasion, etc., all of which have created the "enemies" we now face.

As the current political and economic situation shows, there is no shortage of extremists and fundamentalists in positions of power in the US.

Please spare us the Beck / Limbaugh / O'Reilly mantra of "they hate us for our freedoms and success". Unless of course you are talking about our "sucess" in stealing their natural resources, killing millions of their people, deposing their democratic governments, supporting their despots (our friendly dictators), etc.

Jeeze... shall we persecute Environmentalists because a few of Eco-terrorists blew up a power station?
Shall we persecute communists as a few commie-terrorists blew up a factory?
Shall we persecute those seeking independence because a few separatists left a car bomb outside a federal office?
Shall we persecute those on the right because a few crazies bombed the IRS?

One day it may just be you having your liberties infringed, and a gloved hand stuck into your various orifices and being publicly humiliated

No one is talking about history, we're here, now. Whatever we may or may not have done is besides the point. What would you have us do, give up and allow the country to be burnt to the ground?

I tend to agree. What's your point?

Please spare us the Beck / Limbaugh / O'Reilly mantra of "they hate us for our freedoms and success".

You said that, not me.

No, we shouldn't. We should though on those who have declared war on us.

Ignoring the fact that we declared war on them 60 years ago ... which is why your ignorance of history is dangerous. You cannot solve any problem without understanding the true nature of it.

It's called cause and effect.

What's your point? Are we supposed to allow ourselves to be killed as a way to apologize?

Who says I don't know history, you? Now who's being ignorant.

Out of interest, are you friends with any Muslims? Did you get to know any? Or did they spit at you when you tried to reach out?

My answer is my quote. I don't care. Running these people through some database to see what they're all about is fine with me. If they are inconvenienced, so be it if it keeps the country safe. Hey, you may not like it, but I'm honest.

This is the answer to your other question: It's nothing personal. If Russians swore to destroy us and were to commit acts of war today, I'd say the same thing about them. You can interchange the word "Muslims" with any other group if they did the same exact things. I'm sure there are some great Muslim people out there, but until your intentions are printed out on your forehead, you have to look closer at the kinds of people that we know vow to destroy us.

I wasn't aware that Muslims, as a whole, had issues with America. A very small group of them, sure. That still doesn't mean we should willingly violate all American muslim rights.

Was it Franklin who said "He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither."? I wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment.

Yet how many Muslims actually want to kill you?
LOL, this is just irrational. A phobia of what you dont know.
Do you agree with Herman Cains idea to let communities ban the building of mosques?

I wouldn't like to see a mosque parked right next door to where the Twin Towers were if that's what you mean. It's a slap in the face. In that respect I'd say that I do agree with it.

Exactly. There are many practicing Muslims who have in fact fought with America and her allies. The American Muslim community seems fairly quiet and dont cause any trouble. It seems to be the other way around where they are the ones being harassed.
Its just irrational this hatred. Imagine if every Irish person in England had their civil rights stripped in the 70s and 80s because a few terrorists killed Britons in the name of Ireland. Of course it wasnt imagine. It did happen. Irish people were persecuted.
And in the end it was of no benefit. It was irrational and made things worse. It bred distrust.
How can people integrate if society doesnt trust them?

No one is talking about Civil rights being stripped. A simple name look up on a computer is all that is needed. That sort of thing is done everyday anyway by millions of people.

A name lookup? That is all that is needed to make you feel safe? By all means, let's do a name lookup on everyone.

To be fair, names can be changed, as can be identities. A simple name lookup is only going to provide us protection against complete amateurs.
