Root Proof: Jellybean upgrade

I have a galaxy rush and I can confirm there is jellybean.
It'll take time.
And yes you must have stock rom, kernel, and recovery.

This is like the Huawei Ascend all over again. Nobody will get an official update, what will happen is at the last moment something will come up ( like PlayfulGod getting a Sequent ) and afterwards AOSP or Cyanogen will become fully functional ( in time of course) and everyone will upgrade their phones and complain how there current one needs new ROMs. The moral of the story it is a never ending cycle end users have come to love and OEMs have come to hate. Worst case scenario no official update from ZTE but then Cyanoid gets an update at the end of the week, Ka Pow!

Hey is cyanoid gonna be b07 based still....and don't be so negative who knows we can all hope (for jellybean)...it gives us something to talk about in this forum lmao

IF they do give us JB, i wonder what time it'll be available...midnight? 8 am? heck, ZTE is based in China; it's almost 8 am on the 23rd there now.

About every hour, I check the "Update ZTE Software" and "Update Firmware" options, and keep coming up with zilch.

Yeah, I want it that bad lol.

when it comes out, in order to flash the OFFICIAL update you will need the stock recovery, luckily for us we have a good community here and i am quite sure that much like when the b09 update was released we should have a cwm flashable version up within a day or two of its release

hey junkie what about if we cant root

way ahead of you my friend. fastboot flash clockworkmod, generic jb rooting zip, done deal XD

fastboot doesnt require root so as long as hey dont lock us out of that it can be done

you hear that zte? dont be a clock block, its just not cool

I keep hearing about fastboot, but how do you do it?

fastboot is what is used to interact with bootloader mode. its a black screen with a big picture of andy(the android guy) that you can only access by using the terminal, a third party rebooter, or adb. the command would be "reboot bootloader" and once in it the only way to utilize it is through a computer. basically it gives you the power to flash your partitions with one simple command, the way it should be done. using the fastboot.exe in command prompt you could type "fastboot flash recovery cwm.img" or whatever and it would replace your recovery, "fastboot flash boot boot.img" would be for flashing kernels, and there is also the "fastboot boot" option. that option will allow you to boot a different recovery image than you have on your phone without actually installing it

my thought though is that since theyll be upgrading the entire thing to a while new version of android they should make it a full update not just a patch like b09, and if we get lucky i can just tear apart the patch and make it function with cwm. and i figure worst case, someone lets the update download, uploads it before installing, i adjust it for them, and though it will only work for them even in its modified form, they can then update through cwm, root through there, and then upload the end result so we can make it universally flashable. basically there is little to no way to stop us i will find a way to make this work or die trying

My wife has the Galaxy Rush and it was upgraded to Jelly Bean yesterday. This morning she wants her old OS back. :-) (Keep in mind that she's not very tech savvy) Every time she wants to use her phone, I'm getting questions from her like, "I've never seen this screen before, what's this mean"? I wish my Warp Sequent had been upgraded before hers, it would have made life easier for me this morning.

...like terminal emulator?

not really like the terminal emulator. its only functions are to flash roms and unlock the bootloader, and it cant be used on the phone itself. it has to be controlled by the computer. its the way you are supposed to flash a rom, the terminal emulator method is not the correct way to flash a rom though it does work its manually forcing things, fastboot is meant to be able to do it
