PSA Sneak Peek for Android "L" is out!!!!

Also its two pulls to get to quick settings.

No two finger pull, just swipe down once then down again

The easter egg isn't worth posting. Its some really strange red and blue shapes. Obviously a placeholder. Maybe a hidden clue? ;)

To get to Quick Settings, I was pulling down the notifications, then just pressing at the top right.

And that is an odd Easter Egg. One blue and one red square/rectangle that keep changing size and shape. If it is a clue, I have no clue. ;)

I think they are trolling us. See the video I posted before, they used some of those clips ☺

Just did a reboot now as a test. It does seem like it has a long boot time, I believe it took about half a minute. Not sure if this is because it hasn't been optimized or maybe if it is loading extra debugging code, or possibly even both.

As I mentioned previously, once booted it seems to run well; I'm not seeing any lag or slow downs.

We'll see. All I did was factory reset from TWRP, extract system boot and radio, and flash.

EDIT:
And she just booted. That took a LONG time.

I'm going to get it set up and play with it for a bit and will have a quick first impressions post in half an hour or so

Glad you said that because I've been looking at the boot animations for a couple of minutes and wondering if I messed up!

There's hope for me yet!

Dumb question, but I've never flashed a tar zip. Can i do this with TWRP like any other zip? Or do i have to use fastboot. Can someone give me the basics. Or do i dig up instructions for fastboot stock?

the tar is just a package. You'd have to unpackage it and flash it like a normal factory image through fastboot. I would also expect that custom recovery may not work to get back to 4.4.4 until they're updated, so be careful.

coming from Samsung the tar file had me scratching my head (as I'd already unzipped a .tgz file to get the tar!)

Was a while before unzipping the unzipped occured to me :D

I'd try to restore my PA nandroid but I'm about to board a plane and need my phone working when I land on the other side.

I won't have a PC there all weekend

I thought I had Lightflow set up, it appeared to be working fine. I ended up rebooting and, after rebooting, Lightflow kept crashing -- in fact it was causing the phone to reboot. Firefox is also crashing and does not appear to work at all. HBO Go crashed, when I try to reinstall it says it is not compatible with my device.

Chrome seems to work fine but I do seem to get some lag while scrolling. I'm currently running a YouTube Video with no issue. Google Music also seems to work great.

I'll probably try setting Lightflow up again once I identify what other apps are refusing to work.

A buddy of mine was able to get latest twrp to boot on it, though I'm not sure how functional it is. Anyone try flashing the latest binary yet?

Anyone having any luck with Helium? I can't seem to get it to work, so no restoring any apps. Not really all that surprised.

I can't seem to figure out how to chose which notifications I want to show up on the lockscreen. Instead, I can only find how to turn notifications off entirely for an app. The closest I can find is the setting where it doesn't show sensitive notifications on the lock screen.

Anyone have any clue how to do it, or if it is possible?

I kept twrp, but haven't risked backing up or restoring.

Are you saying it worked for him?

No, he couldn't find the binary because he got busy at work. All i know is that it booted up for him. Can't say one way or another how it worked/performed

As you may have heard, Google gave developers (and hardcore enthusiasts) the ability to preview Android L before its official release later this year. A little fastboot knowledge is all it took to flash the factory images to our Nexus 5 and while diving into the biggest Android update since Ice Cream Sandwich, we decided […]

Does anyone have any idea if google is gonna push the new versions of apps to the play store before they drop L, or if they're gonna keep them only in the preview till release?

Fair few force closes on some apps, to be expected though, just a bugger one of them is Twitter!

As it is though I'm liking the look of L so far.

App incompatibilities are to be expected. I haven't run into any yet, but haven't installed too many non google apps
