Root PSA: Triumph Development is still alive

Just because g60 has a new phone does not mean MTDEV has thrown in the towel. In fact, he is honing his skills and may return one day as a dev! Chairshot is the new King of the castle. Since flaming was going off yesterday (even I was upset), I will reassure the community that we still have a talented team. See madman's thread in the Triumph general section. Just figured I'd post something here since most people, myself included, never read the general section. Quick, read it before it gets buried alive by posts that show how buggy stock is and complaints about our crapola rebranded Foxconn hardware. Funny though that MTDEV's software beats the crap casings out of official firmware. We have run off donations and a multibillion dollar corporation cannot outdo us. Us, referring mainly to the devs, note me. Shows who cares here and who doesn't. ;) Imagine if MTDEV made hardware... I'd sell a kidney for it! :D We do care. I care. g60 cares. All of MTDEV, developer and support assistant alike care. This ends my raw emotional message to the community.

Well I'm glad we have the community we have. Their support has allowed the developement to push forward, both with point out issues, and testing out ideas. I know chairshot has been working hard at the lib files, and I have been failing at the changes I have been making, but I know we'll get theese ROMs better and better.

Holla!

As long as there are people with VM's grandfathered $25/month accounts, people will want to keep their Triumphs allowed. That's the best handset available for those accounts.

As long as the 25/month plan is allowed Triumph is still a contender. Glad to hear MTDEV talents will still be around.

I agree so long as you can keep the 25$ a month plan on this phone there is no reason to change, especially in my area where the "4G" doesn't exist in the form of WiMax, so there is no point in paying more for coverage that isn't there anyway

Hey guys, long time lurker, disappointed to see G60's announcement. I'm interested in seeing where things are at with the camera, and possibly lending a hand. If you are having trouble with C++, I may be able to help. Do you devs hang out in IRC somewhere?

I posted more info on this here

http://androidforums.com/triumph-al...-updated-11-25-11-26am-mst-5.html#post5247328

We don't have an IRC chat we keep all our stuff in posts as to never loose info. If need be we can start a new thread. While I have solved a lot of issues I am just not technically solid enough on C++ and kernel to get us over the hump. We are very close with the camera but I am not sure what needs to be edited or fixed be it kernel, and or code for the camera. I will gladly share all the info I have learned and still assist if I can on this project!

So, I know it might be off the wall a bit, but I saw a post of someone willing to donate a working MT to a dev...so I was wondering why can't we approach a dev who has the technical know how to get the camera working donate a phone to him and raise some donations to get them to give it go. I know it maybe unorthodox but I know I would gladly toss a few dollars to a dev to give her hell..and I'd be willing to bet a bunch of other users would as well... I've been reading everything I can but c++ is my weak spot as well....guess I know what direction to focus my energy..........but just a thought wanted to see what everyone thought about it.. thanks to g60 , mtdev and all the devas who let me tolerate the triumph

dorregary perhaps? ^^

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I don't know if someone would do it. I still think it's asking alot of someone. Just look how much time it took to get it where it is now, bu t might be worth a shot. I think we should do some kind of "backround check". I would hate to give some hard earned money to someone who wouldn't/can't do anything for us.

And the requests for an ETA will have to stop!

...and so passes the torch. Keep the fire alive! :)

We'll see...after yesterday's sales I'm sure I'm the only one who still has a Triumph as their only phone...

If you were willing to fork over a couple hundred for the camera to work on a custom rom wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a new phone that already has every thing you want

Motorola refusing to except Motorola Triumph as their phone.
Don't hold your breath, Motorola Triumph isn't releasing those codes for the camera.

I'm still keeping my Motorola Triumph, because CM7 Rom still a loud me to tether and Wi-Fi for free.

I appreciate devs for making CM7 and CM9 beta.
Thanks devs for y'all hard work.

I'm not saying I would pay that much alone, if everyone tossed in even a few bucks it would add up fast there's quite a few triumph users I'm sure that would add to the pot. Given enough users the bounty could be quite substantial.
I'd love a new phone but just don't have the cash to drop a couple hundred and then I'll also lose my 25 a month plan.. its much cheaper to donate a few bucks and get what we want, not to mention I like my triumph and will use it with the ROMs available and features available,, but camera working in cm would make me much happier

If you would like, just have him contact me and I can get him on the right path. I have so much stuff scattered around my hard drive. The first thing he needs to know is we are working with prebuilt ROMs and we need to edit smali code. I have every ROM that works or almost works, in full and completely decompiled. When I know what exactly he needs, I can package up a zip containing everything, mainly it should just be the framework.jar, it is nice having a bunch of other phones that are almost exactly the same for reference. Plus, I might learn a thing or ten. :D

That's right......keep fighting the good fight. The Triumph can be a solid phone if given a chance.

Yeah, if he could discuss his work in the forums, then we all could learn. I know I have a lot to learn.

Chilz, yes please start a new thread if possible. I think it would be very informative to have multiple devs/users get involved and also have a running log for others to check out. I know I tried importing TickerGuy's RIL hacks into stock AOSP code and then replaced those parts in the Gingerbread ROM through decompile/recompile to get it to work but had no success.

While I did purchase the HTV Evo I am still very involved with keeping tabs on the Triumph, and if need be will always lend a hand as I plan on keeping my dev phone, and of course my Wife still owns the device so benefits to the Triumph are benefits to her :D

Also g60madman has been going at this ever since he jumped in with both feet after TG moved on, maybe taking a break and a step back will give him a new and different perspective on approaching the remaining issues.
