Putting to rest the myths about Task Killers/RAM Optimizers and the like

Okay guys, v1.1 has been published/uploaded to the Play Store (will again take a little bit before the update is visible, I'm guessing).

I added a Settings/Preferences menu to allow you to select different output text sizes that should help with any fitment/display issues.

Cheers!

I love it! Great work guys. I will share this with my friends on G+ and Fb.
Excellent - many thanks to all those doing this! :)

@codesplice - answered the question in your G+ thread as follows -

Hey Jonathan - if RAM Truth is showing 2 GB total for your Moto X - and I expect that it is, then you're one of the people that we wrote the app for. The reality is that most tools simply dabble on the subject of memory usage, especially those from manufacturers. We go directly to the kernel to determine the totals for everything except the Reserved value. You can check it yourself - http://androidforums.com/index.php?posts/6860101

The difference probably is memory either used by the kernel or system services supporting your apps as they run.

Either way, the entire RAM situation has been over-focused to just apps, apps, apps and that's just wrong. You're not using a Windows phone or an iPhone, you're using something far more sophisticated. And yet most tools simply deliver to the lowest common denominator of information demand and report in an extremely lazy fashion.

If you're really interested in specifics about your apps, get System Panel, they tell the whole truth about that aspect, as do a few others concerned with quality. When you want to see the big picture at a glance, use RAM Truth. And don't be surprised to discover that the total Available in both apps are in agreement.

Hope this helps!

Wait until we post results on the old small memory devices.

They did some weird stuff back then - little wonder people were led into the idea about task killers helping RAM. :(

I still have my 1st ANDROID, HUAWEI ASCEND w/CM7. :paperbagdroid:
I think it's right there on the edge of compatibility w/this app, I'll dig it out of the closet & see what's what, that is, if it'll even fire up.

You have an M9 - if it didn't come preloaded with CM then the rumor or report was false.

Samsung and Cheetah made a joint announcement about their unholy union.

Android Central in their review said that it came in the M9 Suggestions folder, not installed, and that the whole folder was best deleted.

The Samsung S6 comes with it baked in and operational.

So, I don't know how thinly you want to slice the relationship wording. Samsung and Cheetah announced a joint venture, it's baked in. HTC has it as optional malware, no doubt for a kickback.

Cue the new owners who want to explain that it either isn't that bad (yes, it is) or that we're not as smart as Samsung or HTC (go away) in 3... 2...

Cleaned the desktop of any pre-loaded shortcuts/disabled just about every pre-installed widget on DayOne,as I do on any phone.
Looked in the apps section for any cleverly-worded <<<<<< (to hide the dirty secret) system apps & nothing looks to be on-board. :)

Well aware of the Shamnanegans :spitoutdroid: :wtfdroid: ,THX in part to this thread, any possibility of getting the S6/EDGE went up in flames w/that bit of news...... ;)
