Help [Q] Completely bricked?

First off, thank you to the wise members of androidforums for the countless help I have received and the vast amounts of knowledge gained.

I have a major problem on my hands and I'm not sure how to proceed. This is a basic outline of the situation:

I have a rooted HTC desire and I have been using MildWild CM-3.8 for the past month or so with out any issues whatsoever- I am actually very impressed with its performance. Might I mention that my mainboard HAS been replaced before; about 3 or 4 months back. These are my HBOOT details:

PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.17.05.23

Anyway. The phone was working beautifully, up until yesterday that is.

I adjusted the font size using spare parts, but this was not to my liking so I changed it back to normal. It did not seem to register that I had changed back to the default so I decided to reboot, thinking that all was well. I was wrong. Instead of rebooting, the device stayed stuck on the "rebooting" screen and the circular animation also froze up. I thought this was not normal so I did the only thing I could do and that was to pull the battery out and try a cold boot.

This is where things get messed up, because as of that moment forward, I am unable to boot into the OS; it just stays stuck on the white screen with the green "HTC" logo.

I have tried booting into HBOOT to get into CWM recovery and but once I'm in the HBOOT menu none of the buttons want to respond at all. I cannot move up or down or even select anything with the power button.

I have even tried getting it back to stock by putting the RUU zip onto the root of the SD as PB99IMG.zip, but HBOOT is unable to read the file, simply stating "wrong image". I cannot connect via ADB or fastboot either and I am starting to run out of options.

If anyone could PLEASE assist me, I would be eternally grateful as I am afraid I might have to return it for yet another repair.

make sure none of the keys are sticky or slightly pressed down.
this behaviour can happen if a button is stuck and would explain why you are unable to choose any options once booted to hboot

its not a complete brick as you can boot to hboot.

you can also RUU via fastboot. to boot to fastboot hold down back +power from cold then run the RUU from the pc
make sure its an up to date RUU for the desire though and one your particular device supports (carrier) if you dont know which is the right one then use the 2.3.3 RUU
