Hello everyone. I did a reformat on my SD card and internal memory a while ago with CM10 flashed. After that, I used root checker and then it says "This device does not have proper root access". Did my stupid mistake wipe out my root?

P.S I am still running CM10 despite my missing root. However, I am unable to use apps like Game Guardian or any apps that require root.

Hi tastycaramel, i looked at your profile to see what device you have, The experts will be in here for your phone.

But, if you are still running CM10, then you still have root. Root Checker is sometimes not effective at detecting proper root access.

Thanks a lot. By the way, the problem is that my ROM manager and certain apps says that my phone is not rooted and privileged permissions are not granted. However, I am still running CM10 without any issue.

This are some snapshots of what happened after formatting. The problem is that the damn superuser just won't pop out to grant access. I was able to use all these apps before I format. How dumb of me to format the internal memory and the SD card :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Formatting your internal and external memory devices should not affect your root status. However something has triggered a bad root device. If you can get into recovery and wipe cache and dalvic then reflash cm you should be fine. I would also not use ROM Manager as it is very buggy and can cause issues like this to happen. Also before doing anything to the phone in the future its a good idea to make a nandroid backup of your current state.

Before I format my memory, I had CM10 installed from ROM manager without any issues and my phone was rooted. I use the wipe memory function in CWM and also the factory reset to get rid of all the garbage.

Before formatting, I actually stupidly deleted all my files in the SD card (lost.d??, andr0id and some other folders). Does that got to do with my root being lost

No, wiping the SD wouldn't cause you to lose root. If I were you I'd reflash Superuser manually from recovery, that should sort it.

I will try that when I get hone from school. Just asking, how did my root got wiped out (sort of)?

you didn't lose root. though you MAY have lost your permission-granting app when you wiped the SD card. because that's how root-checker checks for root permissions.

check and make sure whatever app you were using - Superuser by Chainsdd or SuperSU, or Koush's new one - is still installed on your phone. if it's not, reinstall it and you should be able to grant things root permissions again.

if it's still there, i'd first go into it and see if root-checker is denied. then i'd try installing an app that requires root to use - titanium or something. then i'd go into apps and go to the SU app and delete the cache and the data because something might be corrupted.

after that, i honestly don't know what to tell you other than head over to XDA and see if they have something.

I couldn't use titanium backup as it says that I do not have root access.
