Qualcomm enables dual core location on snapdragon phones

we have a S2 snapdragon.

technically we have the hardware.

but I wonder. isnt the GPS radios configured by software in custom roms? I'm thinking a patch will come out for cm7 and miui to change the GPS radio settings.

in MIUI you can directly edit the ip address and other satellite info the GPS radio connects to.

I cant imagine connecting to GPS satellites requires any other data connection besides the gps radio itself, i mean thats how those in dash navs work right? they dont have any internet or anything besides the gps radio.

maybe what they mean by activated by the carrier is they release a patch to phones to allow to connect to GLONASS.

very interesting.

Unless it has to be turned on at the lower driver level that we don't have source code for (part of the proprietary blobs).
