Root Question about backing up and switching roms.

Hey everyone, long time since my past post :P
I've been running CM7, and I dont mind it, but I want something new, plus my screen feels like its getting very inaccurate, and my batter blows now a day. I'm thinking about trying out Miks rom, cause I see alot of good feedback for it. But now my question is, Im gonna use Titanium to back up everything I assume, and should I made a nandroid backup thru boot menu? Is it possible to load this new rom, and reload my apps and everything or is that just not gonna happen? lol.

So pretty much I'm wondering is there a way to flash from my current CM7 to Miks or a diff rom if I find something else I wanna try and load my apps and whatnot

Yes run Titanium Backup and save all your apps and app data. if you want to backup sms/mms or calllogs then have an appropriate backup app for those.

You should have no trouble however always always always do a nandroid.

EDIT: Never Restore System data from titanium backup. Only restore user data.

As far as roms go I say try ENERGY it's the rom i'm currently running. it's based of Sense 3.5. it"s a extremely sexy rom, stable, fast, and very customization

Yes you should make a nandroid through Recovery

and with TB the apps that you downloaded should be able to be restored on the next rom you choose. BUT REMEMBER ONLY TO RESTORE THE APPS THAT YOU HAVE DOWNLOADED FROM THE MARKET. DON'T RESTORE ANY OF THE SYSTEM APPS AS IT COULD AND WOULD CAUSE EXTREME PROBLEMS!

Other than you should be good to go. Remember to make the nandroid backup before you do anything else just in case you want to go back to CM7.

Ah thanks for the help both of you. Will do im doing the titanium now then im gonna nandroid, and im gonna look into energy that sounds awesome, sexy and customizable? sounds badass

awesome too...never actually used titanium didnt know theres a straight backup user apps!

EDIT: im also thinking about flashing the unvisible zip after a new rom...is that a good idea or no?

then

unvisible.org - The unvisible army

just sounds like an overall good zip :P I guess lemme know if I should or shouldn't flash this after I get the new rom working

EDIT: Also I havent reflashed a rom in quite a while, I wipe thru recovery before flashing correct?

I haven't been to the Rom and Kernel page in while *L* anyways It looks like something that will help so i guess it would be ok to flash it afterwords.

Wipe cashe dalvik cashe and data 3 times then flash super wipe then flash rom. If your sd is partitoned also wipe the ext only not the sd card.

Ok...rom flashed okay, setting stuff up now then gonna titanium restore my user apps + user data, correct?

Also is there anyway to get a different keyboard, like the one in CM7 or should I just try and get used to this one?
