question about Launcher pro on the droid x

I'm about to get the droid x tomorrow and I would like to know how the X runs Launcher pro. I'm coming from a fascinate and the phone seems to be pretty laggy when I try to switch screens or open folders. Is the Droid X fast and responsive on Launcher pro?

I just moved away from Launcher Pro Plus because it is an old build of software due for a major upgrade, anytime now. The DX is fine. Of course, I'm using a high powered custom rom and such, but still, I'd recommend adw ex or GoLauncher ex. Go Launcher will have transitions in a new release this weekend. ADW ex already has them. GoLauncher is free (at this point), fyi.

Good luck!

Steven

well hopefully everything that everyone says its true. I would want to root the X and learn how to install roms but I'm still learning the whole process. Does that z4root method still work for the X on 2.2.1??

Yeah everyone is right. My LP+ flies on the Liberty 1.5 rom. I've tried adw and go launcher, always come back because the widgets are better. (paid version only, but its not too expensive anyway) I would love for Go launcher and LP to combine. It would be great to have more than 7 screens but go launcher doesn't offer any widgets. As far as the z4root method, yes it works perfect on the 2.2.1.

I love Launcher pro widgets. I tried ADW but I enjoyed LPP widgets so much that I went back. It's good to know that the z4root still works. I'll root tomorrow and hopefully I'll have better luck with custom roms with the X than I'm having with the fascinate.

I have LPP but after all the force closes and lag I switched to Go Launcher EX and Go SMS and could not be happier. When they big update comes out for LPP I will give it another shot.

runs amazing on mine....i have also tried the others (ADW and GO) but i always come back to LPP for some reason...and i dont even use the LPP widgets.

The only thing keeping me from going to Go Launcher or ADW EX is the scrollable dock. Do either of those launchers have that?
I use the LPP widgets but those are replaceable by other ones in the market.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying, I'm wondering if ADW or Go Launcher has it. That's my favorite thing about LPP, with the gesture actions it gives me 30 apps on the dock that I don't need to put on my home screens.

Totally mis-read your OP...damn me trying to do 10 things at once! lol

I have mine setup the same way. It keeps my screens free of cluttered widgets which in turn make LPP much smoother and faster in general. I really only have two widgets on my two screens: beautiful widgets and switchpro

Everything else is done from the dock.

GL EX has scrollable docks - 3 pages of 5 each for a total of 15. I use my downloaded LPP dock graphics as a replacement for the dock background with GL.

ADW EX has docks that you display by swiping up on your screen. There is a standard set of 5, but then you can add an additional dock with unlimited icons, which is nice also.

I have all 3, but presently have the fewest problems with GL.

I hate the invisible dock on ADW EX. When I get it to appear, it seriously takes me 20 tries to get the regular dock back. Guess I'm not smart enough to use it

Go Launcher having a scrollable dock is nice but I use the swipe gestures on my main dock all the time too.

Go Launcher is like LPP - it supports up to 3 scrollable docks of 5 icons each. It also supports swipe gestures similar to LPP as well. Dock background can be customized and, as you might guess, the icons are customizable as well. :) It also supports unread gmail, text and missed call counters on the icons, although I had read that there were some issues with them displaying the unread counts properly. Don't know if this still the case so you may want to check it out for yourself (I use LPP cause I'm stuck on the widgets :) ).

Thanks for the info. Trying Go Launcher for the last day or so...I like it, it feels really polished and smooth, but I honestly can't see why it's any better than ADW or LPP. I put it on the fastest setting for home screen switching and it still feels slow to me. With LPP or ADW the switching is instant if you want it to be. Also is there a way to turn off the animation for opening the app drawer? It's kind of laggy.

To keep it OT, Launcher Pro is still the king for me. Going to stay with Go Launcher for a week or so to see if it grows on me.
