Question about modems

Hello so I am currently using this lp3 package from intratechs thread
PDA: XWLP3| Modem/phone: XXLPR| CSC: OXALPQ

My phone signal strength is around -75dBm through -85dBm when in my house but the bars are always at 4. Everytime I call someone in my house they say my voice is really low even though i'm talking loud and I tried using the headset but it doesn't seem to help. I was wondering if I tried a different modem would there be a chance that I might get better reception? I didn't have this issue on my previous moto razr phone on the same network. I am currently using an unlocked bell I9100M on rogers network. Any suggestions are welcome thanks!

The problem certainly isn't signal strength; -75dBm (or even -85) is very good, which is why the signal indicator is showing full strength.

Did the problem only appear after you updated the firmware?

Nope had this issue on the previous firmwares also and the stock one which came with the phone. Is there an app or something to test it out?
