Question about O2 2.2 update...

I was sceptical about accepting the 2.2 update as read about so many things going wrong.

But now i've decided to give it a go.

However, the update does no longer seem available when I check for updates.

Is it just a matter of waiting for O2 to send me it again? Or is there somewhere I can look for it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The update was originally released, but was pulled a few hours later due to problems. As of today, (and i'm not 100%), they still haven't re-released a fixed version. So you have two options to get froyo.

- Wait for O2 to release it (again).
- Root.

There is another choice - Use the RUU (Rom Update Utility), there's a thread on here. Basically you install Froyo over USB from your PC. It is, effectively, a factory reset so make sure you've backed-up properly but it's as safe as any other update, you don't need to root/goldcard and it's official O2 code so it doesn't void the warranty.

I did this last night and it works great, really easy to do.
