Root Question about recovery.log

So I went to install Azrael and it said to use RA as opposed to Clockwork, so I switched, then went into recovery and went to make a nandroid backup and it said Oops... something went wrong please check recovery log. How do I access it? I dont see an option in the recovery menu do I check thru astro? thru pc? Also when I preform a nandroid backup should i check all the boxes?

From the Amon RA thread at xda:

It's going to be either in /tmp/recovery.log or /cache/recovery/log. It's better, though, to choose "move log to sd" under "others" right after it happens. That will move it to /sdcard.

That being said, I'm willing to bet your problem is that you are selecting all of the backup options, including ext. If you've never partitioned your sdcard, it will fail if you select that option.

yessir so without the partition being done i dont want to select ext with the rest of them? also should i partition the card? i'm not sure what it does tbh haha...yeah i also moved the log to sd right after it happened

Right, so when you go to backup, make sure you don't select the option to backup ext. It will fail if you do. The reason people partition the sdcard is to use something called a2sd. It's used to create an ext partition on the sdcard where you can move all of your apps, regardless of whether or not they can normally be moved with froyo apps2sd. Since you haven't done it, don't worry about it, and make sure you don't select that.

thanks...appreciate the help got the backup done now im slappin azrael onto the phone to try it out haha

edit: you got 2 thanks for that :D

Lol, thanks. I'm glad that worked for you. Amon ra should really put in an option to just skip ext backup if it's selected and the partition doesn't exist. Just making it fail is kind of annoying.

Just had this happen to me right now and now I know. But what is crazy I checked both folders. I could not find the /tmp/recovery.log I dont even have this folder.
I did find the /cache/revovery but when I went in there there was nothing there. So is it bad if this happens. And how come on CW 2.6.0.1 it didnt have this problem I Xed all the options.

Udate tried again without choosing .ext and its gave me the same error now I have a problem.

Did you ever get this resolved? If so, how because I'm having the same problem.

so are you getting the oops something went wrong error or you cant find the recovery log. if you go to advanced you can move the recovery log to the sd card. and you can use either your computer or a file manger to view it.

I only have this one backup where i selected the EXT option when i did the back up. is there away around this ? i really need this backup restored.
