Okay so When I ran unrevoked on my phone it messed up but it was able to get s-off and I was able to put RA recovery on it, but it did't root the stock ROM. I was told that all I needed to do was flash a rooted ROM. When I first rooted my phone I tried to flash superuser app from recovery but it wouldn't, it said it could not verify the signature. My question is is it safe to try and flash MikFroYo, I already did a Nandroid but I am wondering if it will do the same thing it did when I tried to flash the SU app.
You can flash whatever ROM you want, now. You have everything need (s-off and a custom recovery) to do so. If I told you to flash a stock rooted ROM, it was only so that you could start with a clean slate. Read as - aside from having wiped data, start where you would have if unrevoked had finished cleanly. Go ahead and flash whatever ROM you want.
The super user app doesn't get flashed, rather, it can be installed frrom the market, if it doesn't install from unrevoked. How exactly did you try to flash it? And you must have SU now if you were able to make a nandroid backup. So, since you have a current nandroid backup, you should have no worries in flashing a custom rom. If for some reason it doesn't work, you can restore to your bckup.
1) If I remember correctly, Superuser is provided in both an apk and flashable zip format.
2) You need a custom recovery to make a nandroid backup. You don't even need s-off to make on (you'll need it to make it useful), and you certainly don't need superuser (root access) in the ROM to make a nandroid backup.
So I read your previous thread on your issue, and from what i understand is going on is that sometimes unrevoked makes errors and that your error was that you did not get su flashed. from what akazabam was saying is that you can get su by flashing a custom rom. so to answer your question about flashing mikofroyo, is to go ahead and flash it. as long as you have a nand backup you should be good to go. also by flashing the rom, it should give you su. you should also download from the market a terminal emulator and check to see if your $ changes to #.
Yep. Unrevoked does three things:
1) Give you a custom recovery.
2) Give you S-OFF
3) Root your ROM.
When it fails at 1 and 3, you need to finish manually. Flashing a custom recovery is easy. Since unrevoked failed at rooting the ROM, just flash a root ROM of your choice. It doesn't have to be stock. It can be whatever you want.
You might also want to toogle signature verification in Amon Ra. Pretty common problem when trying to flash unsigned zips.
The thing was that the zip was signed but it was saying it could not verify the signature.
Hey everyone I was talking to someone else who is/was having the same problem and we are pretty sure the fix is indeed just to flash a working recovery and then a rooted ROM. Does anyone know if my recovery may be broken since it wouldn't flash the other zip or was that just a problem with the zip?
It could be a problem with either recovery or the zip. Yes, you can toggle signature verification, but that's meant more for zips that weren't signed. Where did you get your recovery image from? Did I give it to you? I don't remember. Go ahead and download Mikfroyo, and try to flash it. See if it works or if it errors out as well. Flashing a different recovery (or reflashing what you've got) is easy enough. It's possible that something went wrong while flashing it. I'd blame the zip, first, though? Have you tried to flash anything else?
