Help Question about tethering the Galaxy

If I bought a 3g model off ebay would I be able to tether it from my phone without having to pay monthly? I'm rooted obviously, but here's the catch....I have a Thunderbolt.

Would this make it impossible to tether since the Galaxy doesn't support 4g?

No its not a problem. You would turn your phone into a hot spot and run your tablet in wifi. The 4G doesn't affect anything. I would recommend turning on airplane mode to save batteries.

I've got the WiFi only Galaxy Tab and a Thunderbolt. Tethering works well and basically turns the Galaxy Tab into a 4G "like" device.

One thing to remember...you are going to burn through your Thunderbolt's battery when tethering. If you can have the Thunderbolt plugged in while tethering, you should ;)

Try 'Open Garden WIFI Tether' I am using it to tether my Evo and Tab. Works like a charm. Find it at the Marketplace. It's free.
