Question before updating to ICS

So ICS is official on our Iconia A500s! I do have a quick question before I apply the update, though. Does it keep all your application data?

Specifically, my wife has a lot of time invested in a little known game called Temple Run. Would the update wipe out all that or would it be preserved?

My experience with Android updates is it doesn't touch /data, but I wanted to err on the side of caution rather than risk invoking her wrath.

EDIT: Figured I should point out, I'm not flashing it through some ridiculous process or recovery, I'm just talking about going into settings and doing a check for updates and telling it to download and apply the 350MB thing.

Everything is kept. Did mine this AM, all my game/app data remains, including my GoLauncher HD data (homescreens, etc).

I should say that SOME apps that I had shortcuts to on my homescreen had to have the shortcuts re-added, but otherwise all went smooth. The tablet seems MUCH more responsive than it was previously.

There are alot of apps that flat out won't work on ICS. I had to do a factory reset to get mine working corecly. Lost everything I had on it. Turned out the alot of the problems I was having was because of incompatable apps. Aftewr the reset I tried to install all my old apps and found many that were n't available for my version of Android. So be forwarned... NOT ALL APPS WORK WITH ICS! Do a back up of your entire drive and save it on your PC. That way if it doesn't work with ICS you can take it back to what it was. I thought the factory reset would take mine back to what it was and it only wiped my machine and did a clean install and had to redo it all. But it's now working fantastic. So you can take your chances and do the update and hope it works or wait till they get out all the bugs to do the uypdate.

People are reporting on Google Play (Market) that Temple Run force closes on ICS. After I installed the ICS update I realized too late that I should have waited a few days, and then checked the reviews for my apps on Market for signs of trouble with ICS. My daughter loves Sims Free Play, and that app crashes hard on ICS.

To find current reviews for your tablet in Google Play:
  1. Search for the app you are concerned about
  2. Select it
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the reviews
  4. Select "See all"
  5. Look at the top
  6. Change "Most helpful first" to "Newest first"
  7. Change Options to "From this type of tablet only"

If you do decide to update to ICS before the next patch release from Acer, the following post may come in handy. It's a bit technical, and probably long winded, but it may save you a lot of grief. That post is: http://androidforums.com/acer-iconi...veral-a500-ics-related-symptoms-problems.html
