Root [Question] Error when building apk's

What up ppl? I got an issue, when I build apk's, I get an error msg:

"aapt: warning: string 'battery_history_awake' has no default translation in (gives path to res folder)", and a ton more of the same stuff about translations.

How do I set default translations? All I'm trying to do is make the ics settings with gb icons for the revo. Any help would be appreciated.

What are you trying to do?

i think hes decompiling the settings.apk "WE" built (lol), and he's having issues recompiling after switching out pngs, the same ol issue we all have w/ pngs sometimes. Or perhaps something is not declated properly in the strings or something or an image is missing

although translation issues would still let you compile the apk just fine. I would, if i were you, post the whole log here, most times the actual error is right before the whole translation flags.

I never try to compile the modded apk. I always move the xmls i edit over to the stock, compile and move them back to the apk I'm editing. Then add pngs. No re compile headaches this way.

Sorry guys. I got it to compile but I think I'm going to start over and try again. trying to figure this out for the better part of a day got me a little twisted.

I was trying to figure out this ics settings thing, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576565, and I believe I got the xmls figured out. Now it's just the .arsc and the copying the xml part that's got me twisted. I'm using MT's BrokenOut2.0 for the revo and I was just trying to create an ics setting apk, using the aosp GB icons. Right now, I'm still at the part of editing xmls and compiling apks. Honestly, I would just like to get the damn thing to install and be usable. I can work on the icons later.

Oh and, for some unknown miracle , I'm not getting the error msg anymore. Maybe installing the updates 'Mint' has been telling me about for the past week and a reboot helped. idk.

Anyways, gonna start over and see what happens. I'm soaking up all the advice that I can. The theme I'm working on is a hybrid between GB and ICS. Haven't decided if I want to recolor the GB icons ics blue or the status bar icons GB blue. :hmmmm2: Then on to the window transitions and then stock lg lockscreen. Wish me luck.

** edit **

I was comparing y'all's work for comparison. and stealing any bit of code that fit the need. lol

aapt errors are fine, just related to signature, which is why we say to copy new compiled files into an older stable version of the apk

but if there was a bunch of them.. it usually means it's related to swapping an image related with .9 patches.. so 'it's best to remove the .9 if its your own custom image.. or to get a decompiled version of the image before swapping it in the decompiled apk..

or you just need to install the framework-res.apk :D

so, once I recompile the edited apk, I then copy the settings.xml to the stock one? What about the strings.xml? is that in the resources.arsc or classes.dex? I know one of them is the sig. I believe that's what's confusing me.

You have to move resources.msc over and if you edit smali, the classes.dex.

Yes, you move the settings.xml into the original/stock one. As far as the strings, you don't need to move them since that folder disappears after recompiling. Sometimes, if you edit strings.xml to add any strings you have to recompile after adding strings then decompile again.

so glad i took the time and went through all my apk's so now they compile perfectly without switching images in and out lol so now after i make an edit i just lazily swap the whole res folder in and out LOL
