Help Question on factory format

Jimmy1234

Lurker
Before I update my Galaxy S2, I want my phone to return to its factory default with all the folders left behind by applications deleted. If I do a factory format where you hold the volume button and factory reset through there, it will do this right? Also, my phone will remain unrooted right?

Welcome to the forum Jimmy1234.

If your factory reset from recovery all files on the internal sd will remain. But if you go to settings, privacy, factory data reset you can tick to format USB storage which will remove everything.

First, if you are already rooted, factory reset would not unroot you. It will remove all apps and settings that you download but will leave the current firmware behind.

Hi guys, thanks for the reply. My phone has never been rooted. I just wanted to make sure factory reset will permanently delete all hidden files and system files that may have been stored by third party applications. Based on your replies, I think I got it. Thanks.

Beware, as I've read somewhere that the factory format via the dialler also formats the internal storage (/sdcard). Can anyone confirm this?
