Don't be freaked.. one way or another, we'll get you through.... My thought is that you probably didn't select "mount /system" before you flashed your theme. I did the same thing lots of times. The first time because I didn't know I should and then later, because I forgot to.. oops.

The good news is that if you've gotten this far you're doing GREAT!!

First, try a wipe...

Pull the battery, then

1) hit the home button while pressing the power button. Hold them down until you see \!/

2) then hit the search key..

This brings you to the recovery screen. From there do a factory data reset, and you should get back into Apex 1.4.1 without the theme... do that to get yoru phone back and then we'll theme you, okay?

Don't fret...

Even if you have to sbf, we're here for you.. no recovery is difficult unless you don't know what you're doing. We do, so you're fine! Now gimme a smile, okay? :D

I

yeah, wiping data/cache is something only do when installing a rom clean, not for a theme.
i still mount system....guess some dont.

I

Yeah I'm back to Apex 1.4.1 now. Yes! lol

Now I'm just trying to get this theme to work, without repeating what I just did again. I don't understand what you mean by "flash".

Here is what I did when I installed the theme -

downloaded
plugged in phone
transferred file to phone
bootstrap recovery
reboot recovery
Wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
install zip from SD card
installed the apex gingerbread theme
reboot phone

When it rebooted it stayed stuck on the motorola logo

Lol faber, love the new thread you started. I assume you are the old timer? :D

How's it going Chris? Are you losing it yet? :p Don't worry, these guys will get you where you need to be.
Once you get the hang of this stuff, you will be doing it all the time. It's fun!

Edit: also, you should only do a factory reset when installing new roms or as a last resort to get your system back up when crashing.

Also, also, flash means when you install zip.

Well, he seems to be fine.. He should try flashing a theme again.. Also, he needs learn how to backup a rom and restore and also to sbf then he's all set in case of any emergency, right?

dont wipe anything on a theme install....only when clean installing a rom.
so try the theme again without wiping data or factory resting or wiping cache....
i mount system anyway, some dont.

so from computer to sd card
bootstrap recovery
mount system in advanced (if want)
install zip/ reboot

thats where we went wrong. you were using directions (or i messed you up) for installing a rom to install a theme.

no need to wipe data/factory reset
no need to wipe cache
other than that your doing it right

The only time you need to wipe data and cache is when you're going from one rom to another, not when you're adding a theme. That's prolly why you were stuck... you probably were just panicked when your phone was processing. Had you waited, it prolly woulda started up on its own.

Now, just learn about backing up/restoring and sbf'ing and you can do anything you want. :) Keep asking questions! :D

No, no, no. I did all that stuff originally. I watched a youtube video on how to install a theme, and that is what the video said to do. Sorry.. can't let you go down as a bad teacher! You helped me a bunch.

Clearly faber's the best. Clearly. A fantastic teacher.. i mean teaching people theming stuff and all. :D

Yeah still don't know much about that.

I just started over with installing the theme, and it seems to be frozen again. Been stuck for 3-4 minutes now.
