Help quick help please

My phone has developed an issue, it was doing the following randomly for about 3 months but always booting up after a bit but now its not booting at all.

Basically as soon as i put the battery in the phone it turns on without pressing the power button, the samsung logo comes up then the screen goes off and the samsung logo comes back up and it just keeps doing this over and over until i remove the battery.

Ive tried draining the battery and recharging, tried connecting to computer etc etc. Ive also tried a different battery.

Help me, i dont want to send it off theres loads of stuff i want to keep safe on the phone memory which i cant erase as it wont connect to laptop etc.

It charges fine but just keeps rebooting. HELP

man that sucks sounds like me you are in what is known in bootloop. If that is the case you most likely have to do factory reset which erases everything and i know that is what you want to avoid but that may be your only option.

Welcome tortillas24:)

Man that stinks:(
But as dmcjr22 suggested, you may have to do a factory reset.

I'm not sure if this would help, but boot into your stock recovery and clear the cache and then reboot. (if possible-- but you have to start with the phone off--I know you said that as soon as you insert the battery, the phone comes on....to boot into recovery you need to start with the phone completely off, then while holding the home button, press and hold the volume up button, and then press/hold the power button until your recovery screen comes on)
Your power button may be stuck down also? Perhaps check that.

Right i noticed this issue very first started when i dropped the phone.

So i just dropped my phone on the carpet and its booted up fully. However the screen keeps going off and i have to unlock it or the (restart, shut down etc) menu keeps coming up. So im guessing maybe a power button problem?

If not is there anything else i can do?

Is it still under warranty?
If not and you are so inclined... You can attempt to disassemble it to inspect the power button..
I personally think it's a power button issue. But let's see what others think

I dont know tbh. I know ive read of people doing it themselves. Id try youtube for a guide or at least a "tear down" video of the s3 and then find out what part you need to replace. Hopefully it isnt too complex.
Either that or a samsung certified repair center
