Help Quick question re rooting

Hi there, I am looking to buy a new Samsung Galaxy S III SGH-T999L. I am in the UK and i am buying it new from a UK seller. The seller claims the phone is unlocked and is a "rooted t mobile US model."

Now my question is if I root the device myself will it overwrite the current root and then will the phone no longer be unlocked (Im not on t-mobile) ?
Or should I just buy a proper UK version to avoid any complications as I plan to root it after buying it.

Any help appreciated, Thanks.

Hello and welcome to the forums . if u root again what would be the purpose of that . just unroot and reroot
Now was this a carrier unlock or a gsm patch they applied.

ok to get on the same page when you say unlocked are you saying bootloader is unlocked or carrier is unlocked?

But im pretty sure no you will not use the unlock if you are refering to carrier.
I say this because when i unlocked and rooted s3 eventually i was swapping roms and i soft bricked it and had to odin it back with official firmware and phone was still carrier unlocked

Sure funky will respond soon lol he can answer everything

It will stay carrier unlocked no matter what you do so dont worry about that but are you sure the radio hardware will work in UK?
Thats all id be worried about

Thanks for the reply's so far, the purpose of rooting it would be to make the most out of it as I currently have a jail-broken iPhone so would like to play around with stuff.

I'm not quite sure what type of root or unlock it was, I will try and find out from the seller and see where i get. However I believe it is a factory unlock and is sim free.

Thanks.
