Root Quick question regarding the Wireless N fix

I recently updated the driver on my evo as the last 2.3.3 update/maintenance update broke wireless N functionality. I followed the directions listed here: [FIX] Wireless N on Evo 4.24.651.1 ROM - xda-developers and everything went as it should I guess. However, when i check my hardware (menu/settings/about phone/hardware information) it still only shows wi-fi 802.11 b/g. Is this accurate? Any help/info would be scwheet!

i'm not sure if. have you tested your wifi? have you noticed any difference? not sure why you went with all the trouble with it as many of the newer gingerbread roms have this built in. i would try the synergy rc2 [ROM] Synergy - [RC2+GodMode 07/29/2011] - Faster Than A Speeding Bullet! - xda-developers or mikg2.42 [ROM] - [MikRoms] - [7/30/2011] - MikG v2.42 - Re-Engineered GB Sense 2.1 + 3.0 - xda-developers. they are all very stock, but super optimized, fast and stable. plus they have wireless n support and they have sense 2.1+sense 3.0!

I'm a noob at all this. I did root back in march but have never flashed a custom ROM. From what I've read, the synergy rom is pretty big and card partitioning is recommended. I am just not sure of all the steps required. flash from recovery? hboot? not sure what kernels are. I have just done a backup and I'm assuming I can go back to my current ROM if any issues arrive. I know I should copy my SD card to my pc as partitioning the card will erase all data.

There is just a lot I dont understand about all this
