I don't remember where but I read somewhere that if you have a contract that expires in 2010 on an exisiting phone you can get the Droid X and be elligable for a new contract. Is this true? My contract is up the 16th but I really want to get the phone on the 15th without having to pay retail.. please let me know! Thanks

Call VZW customer support and ask them to change your upgrade date. If you're only talking about one day I highly doubt that they'll have any issue getting this request approved.

Do precisely this. They moved mine from August 25 to July 5th (just in case they opened a preorder) so I could use my NE2 credit. One day is a shoe-in.
