Help Quickly adjusting screen brightness for ICS 4.0?

Actually to tell you the truth that is the option I miss the most from Gingerbread because I keep my screen at nearly the lowest brightness so that it does not waste battery like crazy but I am afraid now the quickest way would be to have the power control widget which is ridiculously big and to adjust it from there :'(
I definitely have to agree with you on that one. I noticed that they had taken off the brightness adjustment from the notification bar and tried to find another way but you pretty much have to do it the long way. As far as the power control widget goes itself, I think it's too big now. I liked how it was before with just a 4x1 widget with the wifi, gps, bluetooth, etc.
Are you sure it's not available? go to menu>settings>display>brightness and make sure auto is unchecked and then try it. It still works for me (but I'm using the ShoStock2 rom right now and the Apex launcher, so it might just be in that.) Worth a try, anyway.

I took a shot. If it's a deal breaker you could always find a ROM that supports it.

It's fine I'll stick with it, I tried the Power Control Widget and I actually like it!
Hey all, I stumbled upon this quick method with 4.0 once. Tap and Hold the top indicator bar, after two and a half seconds, just slide your finger left to right to dim up and down. Much better then gingerbread IMO. Cheers
Forgot to mention: I think auto dim must be disabled for this to work. Also youtube has videos of this method, but since I just signed up to your forum, I cant post links quite yet. (spam security) hope this helps guys n girls thx

Unless I'm just missing something or doing it wrong, I thought that was disabled in the ICS update.
I solved my problem by installing Display Brightness App. Its free. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...epper.DisplayBrightness&feature=search_result

I have been looking for something similar, and have tried quite a few of the popular widgets but this one seems to do the trick most elegantly.
That being said, it took me about 15 minutes to get it set up in a fashion that was easy to use but didn't interfere with my icon setup - It's extremely customizable.
Still, very much worth a look if you want an effective but unobtrusive brightness tool, and don't mind spending a few minutes to tweak it to match your usage patterns.
