Root Radio changed with ROM???

richy555

Newbie
Ive been installing a few different roms lately testing which i like best.

What I have noticed is that my phone did have 32.54.00.32U_5.14.05.17 radio.
I have just noticed that the radio is now 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
I have never changed the radio on my phone for fear of bricking it.

I did not know that when installing a ROM that it could change the radio.
I thought the radio had to be flashed/installed separately to the ROM.
Is there any difference between the 2 Radios?

Is it worth putting latest radio on my desire or does anyone know a rom that will automatically change it to latest radio.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

theres not a lot of difference between those 2 radios. The one you put on is the slightly older one. I have that one and its fine.

Its rare but some custom roms do come with radios packaged (most notably, MoDaCo roms). All RUU's come with radios too.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I knew id never changed the radio myself so was surprised when It had changed.
ROMS used lately have been Miui, GV, Defrost6.1, RCmixHD, Ive never flashed a ModaCo rom.

Well it certainly wasn't DF or GV. Don't know about the others (there are plenty of Miui to choose from too).

Just had a look in the RC thread and it doesn't mention anything about radio either. Although thats not a guarantee it doesnt include.

Like you, I know DF and GV are not the culprit though.

Thanks for that.
Just intrigued as to what rom has backdated my radio..

A ROM will only flash a new radio if it's included in the ROM, otherwise you (or someone else) has done it for you

The real question is, did you notice any difference in performance before you spotted that the radio version had changed? Or after, but before is a better test, since once you know there might be a placebo (or nocebo) effect.

If not, then there's no real urgency to updating the radio.

TBH Ive never noticed any real difference at all.
I was just looking thru my phone when i happened to noticed the radio had been rolled back to an older one.
No one has ever touched my phone, there is only me who has rooted it then put different roms on.
I thought if a radio was included with a rom it would have been stated then i wouldn't have flashed that particular rom for fear of bricking my phone.
I only wish I knew what rom has done it.

I did actually look inside one of the RCmixHD zips the other day and didn't see a radio in there. So that leaves the Miui I guess, but I don't know which one of those you used.

I looked through all the miui and the hd thread and used ctrl f for radio, no result

It's a mystery

Off the top of my head, the roms ive installed have been:
LeeDroid, Defrost, Oxygen, GV, several different miui (miui au, rodriguez, miui, sure there is more) rcmix, insertcoin/baadnewz, sure i tried starburst too. These are what i can remember.

Finally got the bottle to update the radio..
Happy days its now back on latest 32.54.00.32U_5.14.05.17
Gonna do a nandroid to back it up now!

I flash radios more than ROMs, never had an issue...actually find the one in my signature to be better for battery life than the latest one - but then again it came with the ROM I'm using so it should be!

my answer it may help you:actually, installing a new ROM u[pgrade it may affect your phone if it is not correct and suitable for your device, first of all i must know from where you purchased your device and if it is branded to one of the network operator,so,in case your device is manufactured for the country u r live in, is good, and also if there is one operator who has the full legacy over the version software,u have to refer to the specifically operator.my full recommendations is to contact the HTC customer support to provide/guide u the correct ROM upgrade available at the moment without affecting your device on itself. And please notice that this ugrade will delete your data from your phone(please back up all your data) and also the radio specifications as well.if u can say to me the country where u live i can provide for u the phone number to one of the call center.
Thanks in advance

Matilda, it sounds like you are recommending richy to use an RUU, which will unroot his phone. But you aren't saying this explicitly or clearly. I don't know whether this is deliberate, or because you haven't appreciated that we're talking about custom ROM upgrades in this forum?

But the query here was merely as to which ROM might have included a radio modification, and not because there was a problem with the phone, so there's really no need for such an action.

I suspect it's a the former; the 'HTC Account advisor' at the bottom of the post kind of hints at why.

I have to say that I take a rather dim view of an HTC representative coming into an enthusiast forum such as this and dishing out misleading information. I sincerely hope this is not officially-sanctioned policy, as it would seriously damage HTC's standing both here at AF and in the wider Android community.
