Root [Radio] [Leak] [7-17-11]2.xx.xxx.x Radio New Gingerbread RUU

Running it now. Signal seems a little stronger, GPS locked quickly. Working well. This is on CM7.

Only been a couple hours, so ill update tonight with more info.

Worm, do you know if this the official GB radio or a leak like MR2/2.5 was?

I've seen conflicting accounts of if the new GB base is MR3 or an unfinished leak.

Will be flashing this tonight

Good question. I believe it's the official GB radio. As you know JCase has been testing the new OTA and since Chingy posted the date of this radio as 7-17 I'd assume he passed the OTA along to Justin. I could be wrong, but considering Chingy has posted the last 3 radios I believe he has the direction connection

So far so good. On the OTA MR2, I would be showing 1-2% data loss by now.

As of right now it's not even showing 0%, which it was showing if I had lost data but not long enough to hit a full %.

Definately seems more stable, on 3G at least..

Will test 4G and WIFI handoffs this evening.

I originally asked for a md5 verification as Chingy didn't post it. I found it elsewhere and added it to the OP.

That ok with you, sir? ;)
Haha! I was just a little antsy cause this is so new and didn't want to miss anything. I have it d/l but not installed yet. Perhaps tonight after I read all the gory details.

Preliminary thoughts after running it for a couple hours...

WiFi/3G hand offs were instantaneous. 3G to 4G was quicker than I noticed on 0627

GPS picked up my location in a very rural area, not by any main roads, while driving in about 2 seconds. Turn by turn directions back to my house popped up in roughly 4 seconds.

Battery life still seemed poor. Turned on 4G for about 20 minutes to test hand offs with 75% battery. After checking Twitter for a few minutes, doing the GPS test and checking a few emails I was down to 62%. Granted, I was not in a strong 4G area and was frequently bouncing back to 3G so that more than likely played a role in the battery loss.

All in all this new radio seems solid. My first instinct is to say that it's better than the 0627 radio, but it will take a few days to really make that assumption

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't jcase just pop in a thread and say this is the same exact file as the official mr2 on xda?

No idea, I rarely check xda anymore. Very well could be, but my results were much better today for some reason. Maybe it's the ROM.

BTW, next time maybe link the thread instead of just mentioning it?? Considering there's no new radio thread over there it'd be easier than searching through random threads looking for a single post

Well, then everyone should download the newest OMFGB nightly because everything I posted above is true and better then it's ever been

Lol, if it isn't the radio must be the rom. Are you running the stock kernel with OMFGB? The battery loss you posted would be a little much for me. I am able to keep my phone on airplane mode for most the day switching out of it 4 times and from 10:30 am to 8:30 pm I am still above 70%.

No. I'm on Iomseyon's newest, 3.5.3. I never put my phone in airplane mode, I just usually keep 4G toggled off until I need it and I get reasonable battery life. Not as good as CM7, but not enough for it to be a deal break. I need my phone on with data constantly syncing (email, calendars, etc) all the time for work

you guys are misunderstanding... these aRE New radios.

in yeahhas thread linked above, what jcase said in post #3,is that this RUU is the same MR2,byte for byte, as the MR2 previously listed in PG05IMG.zip format. difference being this is an .exe file that comes with htc software installed to run on your PC.

what is being discussed in post 7, is that the radio in the official MR2 is the same as the leaked mr2- the radio we were calling "2.5".

i dont see anywhere that says the radion in the linked thread is the same radio as what will be coming out in the GB OTA.

im excited to flash :D

I just reread and checked baseband numbers and this is definitely new.
